to this point, I think Scola, Doresy and Landry's post defense are terrible. they need JVG as their mentor.

Because when the start of the season comes around, we're looking at Barry and Luther Head in terms of guard depth at the 2 spot (this is with Tmac out). Artest and Battier can fill in a lot of minutes at the 2, but considering we have no body other than Artest, Battier and Tmac that can play 3, you might be looking at maybe 24 minutes they can contribute to the 2 spot? Barry isn't going to be the other 24, thats why you need Head.

Plus, Luther Head is our most efficient shooter off the bench. Don't try and pretend that Wafer and Strawberry are more accurate than he is.

We should keep Head for two reasons.

1.He can shoot(in the regular season at least).
2.He run the offense very well(when Yao and him are both on the floor).

Head pass the ball to Yao then cut to the basket.

Head make the screen for Rafer then get himself open to make room for Yao in the low post.

Head run pick and roll with Yao.

Head draws the defenders to him, then pass the ball to Yao for the easy 2.

Just a few plays to show Head does have some value to this team.He just need to get his confidence back in the playoffs.

I find it ironic that you say that and all four of his "instances" are from the same game.

Its as simple as this, Head is better than Wafer and Strawberry. Now, if you want to just trade Head for lux tax reasons, thats a different story. But there is just no argument to be made that Wafer and Strawberry are better than Head.

Here's how stupid this argument is: Luther Head shoots 40% from 3 point land over his career, and then has 13 games in the post season where he plays horribly (all against one team, so the argument could be made that he plays bad specifically against that team and not in the post season in general), yet you decide to put all the emphasis on the 13 bad games.

Now we have Wafer and Strawberry that have 3 good preseason games, but for their entire careers have been horrible. Yet, you decide to put all the emphasis on the 3 preseason games.

I mean... talk about backwards logic. It makes no sense to choose 13 games against one team in which Head played bad, and then turn around and choose 3 games in which 2 players play good and completely ignore everything else. If I use that logic, I could make a case that Alston is an All-star.

I hate to see both Wafer and Strawberry not sign. I don't mind if they trade Head to make room for both. The reason is that Head is a one dimensional player and i don't see him getting much playing time anyway. Head also failed under pressure in the Playoffs. So if we keep Head...it's a waste of spot anyway because he won't be playing much. I am more confident with both Wafer and Strawberry on the court because of their ability to attack the basket and not just settle for 3.

If the bench is players like Battier, Landry, Hayes, Dorsey, possibly Mutombo, other than an unproven Aaron Brooks and an aged Brent Barry need someone who can hit shots and be an outside threat. Which Luther Head in his own awkward style has proven he can do, in the regular season.

If Strawberry, Wafer, or Harris arent on other NBA teams during the season, maybe any one of them can get a midseason call back to the team like Mike Harris last year. Thats after seeing if Head can get dealt or if Francis can come back.
