They were also notorious for not loosing home games, but that is not the case this year. This is a different spurs team, and even if the rockets dont catch up to them in the regualr season, I would love to see them in a playoff series. i think the rockets would win fairly easily

We're going to have to beat Dallas and Phoenix to get to the finals. Let's get out of the first round before worrying about anything else. I think we can beat any of the other teams in the conference, so it won't really matter to me if we get Dallas or Phoenix first.

i agree, if we get 3rd seed, we might face Lakers in the first round, which might be a tougher series than facing Spurs and Jazz. Among Laker, Jazz, Lakers, we better face Jazz first, then Spurs beats lakers, and let Spurs challenge suns.

I have a better question: Let's say the Suns fade and the Rockets keep rolling. Is it possible for the Mavs to be the 1 seed and the Rockets the 2 seed? Under the new rules, I think it might be, but I wanna know for sure. The Spurs are ahead of the division leader Jazz at 3, so why couldn't the Rockets or them be ahead of two division leaders at 2?

Rockets finish regular season at 3rd seed above spurs and face Nuggets in round 1!!! Rox and Mavs face each other in conference semi finals. Mavs win the series cuz of their depth and Mavs face detroit in the finals. Mavs win the Championsship!

I'm just being realistic here! sad but a HUGE possibility! :(

Because unless the injury bug bites, there is no way in the world the Suns and Mavs aren't the top 2 seeds. The Rockets have lost 16 games. If the Rockets are undefeated the rest of the season they may not catch the Suns and Mavs. I only slightly exaggerate.

The fact of the matter is the Rockets will be #3, #5 or #6. #3 if we stay hot and pass the Spurs, #5 if we finish between the Spurs and Lakers, #6 if we fall behind the Lakers. I assume the Midwest division winner (Jazz or Nuggets) will fall to #4 behind the Rockets or Spurs.

#7 is a possibility as well -- falling behind Utah, Denver, and the Lakers.

It is very possible if both TMAC/YAO keep healthy and our role player do their job well.
Maybe we could beat Mavs!! Anything is possible, huh??? :D :D

I rather stay where we are and play Utah in the first round. You never know playing the lakers because they got kobe and he could go for one of those 40/gm tears. In Utah, you don't have that variable.

You do think we will make the playoffs though don't you?

Every statistical indication is that we'll end up higher than the lakers and jazz (strength of schedule, margins of victory, etc)...however I think the Nuggets have an outside chance at passing us IF their team develops good chemistry or we get more injuries.

I guess having either the 3rd spot or the 5th spot isn't really important to us at all. since either spots will and can net us home court advantage (assuming we have better record than Jazz).

The real question is do we want to face the Jazz or the Lakers?

Jazz plays somewhat like the suns will deron tearing up at the pg and distributing goods to boozer and made him a honorable mention as a MVP. which i think deron deserved more than him. It could be a little testing for us before we face the suns.

Lakers with Kobe and PJ could mean something. Kobe himself go off would not guarantee the team a win as we saw it many times it happened this season. it is the rest of the lakers who would decide the fate of the lakers.

Personally, I like to see us face off the Lakers first as I think they are a much easier opponent to face. I wouldn't mind Jazz either as they have no experience in the playoff except for fisher. AK and boozer both injured for now and AK is injury prone with his height and slim body and no muscle to protect the fame.

I'd like us to stay where they are now. I'd like us to be underdog, staying humble and hungry.

I appreciate what you're saying. However, that's not my question. I just wanna know if it's possible, if anyone out there knows the new playoff format rules good enough.

The Suns schedule is gonna get tougher, and it wouldn't be surprising to see them fade. The odds of the Rockets catching them are slim, I know. But if they do... Could the Mavs be #1 and the Rockets #2.

Anyways, I think the best seed for the Rockets is #5 although I want them to be in the top 3. If we are #5 then we wouldn't have to play the Suns until the WCF. I'm totally fine with playing the Mavbricks in the 2nd round because I'm fully confident we can beat them. The Rockets match up with them way better than they do with the Suns.
