I like AK47 defense but he's sort of like Battier...can't really create his own shot.

I think it's better to get someone like Iggy.

I don't know...that pick means a fighting chance at getting a transformative player in John Wall. I just can't see Utah moving that pick in order to shed a couple of contracts and get Scola. If we got Kirilenko and Boozer and had to give up Scola and McGrady to get that pick I would have to do it if I were Morey. Then you could package some other players, including Landry to get a legitimate two guard.

The only player I want from Utah is Deron Williams. Easy as that. I will not touch any player from the Jazz even if its package with the NY pick.

AK-47 would be sensational in Adelman's system. He could play the 4 with the fast unit and we would clean up. He is multidimensional, multitalented, a great help defender. Did I mention he was fast? He would kill it under Adelman.

If..........we gave McGrady for AK-47 and Booz, we are getting the Jazz out of a lot of lux tax. They should have to throw us that Knicks pick since they are probably going to buy out McGrady and tank.

While I actually like AK's talent and fit with this team, right now, I don't just see it happening, even with the pick thrown in.

First, New York Knicks may well be a playoff team this year. Take a look at the East standings. If all you are getting is a mid-teens pick, it's kind of asking a lot for a team to swallow $17.8 mil in upcoming AK salary. It took Eric Maynor to dump Harpring, whose insured contract is no where near AK's size.

Second, that $17.8 million isn't just money, either. It's money that will likely preclude the Rockets from

    (1) re-signing at least one of Scola and Lowry, and
    (2) use the MLE,

before incurring luxury tax penalty. If the Knicks sucked more, I'd think about it, but right now, the return isn't just enough for the cost.

Knicks aren't goin to the playoffs. We could threaten Utah by telling them we are sending McGrady to the Knicks so they will make the playoffs and then Utah loses their shot at a lottery pick.....or we can send McGrady to Utah, save them the lux tax by getting McGrady to agree to a buyout, and then we will settle for AK-47, Boozer, and Brewer for McGrady and Cook.

Why not? They're 10th right now, have been playing a lot better than at the beginning of the season, and seem to be somewhat coming together - they definitely have an outside chance. At any rate, they definitely won't be a high lotto pick like the Sixers or Nets, and I would need a pick on that level to take on someone like Ak47.

Have you seen the Eastern Conference Standings? The Knicks could definitely make the playoffs.

Oh, okay. I'm glad that's cleared up. Get 'er done, Morey!

The East is absolutely PATHETIC this season after the top four teams. Miami is the only even mediocre team outside the top four. Two (or even maybe three) sub-.500 teams will make the playoffs in the East this season. With the Knicks knowing they don't have their lotto pick, you just know that Donnie Walsh, Mike D'Antoni and the rest of the organization is going to put substantial pressure on this team to make the playoffs this season. And it won't take much this year to accomplish that feat. Such a showing will only strengthen the Knicks' (weak, in my opinion) chances of getting Lebron this summer.

If we trade McGrady to them, they will go to the playoffs. Their current roster won't do it. They are going to fade big time down the stretch without a trade.

Ugh...You might as well sign Stockton and Malone while you're at it. This Kirilenko talk is sacrilege...

I would take AK47 and Okur and the Knicks pick for McGrady and Dorsey.

I dont think that is enough for Utah to give up the Knicks pick. Like others have said, I think the players Utah would covet most are Scola and Battier. They seem like the kind of players Sloan would love to have on his team.

I think a deal like Scola and Tmac for Boozer, Kirilinko and the Knicks pick might convince them to do the trade. They at least get a player who could be of value to them over the next two to three years in Scola as opposed to Tmac or Dorsey. And of course they rid themselves of the 17 million or so owed to AK next year.

We get Boozer to take Scola's mins this year. If we dont resign him that makes Landry the man at the PF spot next year. Kirilinko could play PF or SF for Adelman and gives us another massive expiring next year and lets Morey do it all over again.

Although, Im sure Utah doesnt want to give up the potential lottery pick, I dont think they want the two guaranteed contracts that go with two first round picks next year. Id love to see what Morey does with a top ten pick.
