While AK47 in a Rockets uniform would make me hurl, thinking about the Knicks first round pick in the next draft has me salivating. I'm a huge Scola fan, as some might have noticed, but he is exactly the kind of player that Sloan loves and would fit his system, in my opinion. The "anti-Boozer," if you will. He might be just the sweetener to snag that Knicks pick.
Why not just do a AK/Okur and pick for Tmac trade? This gets both AK and Okur off their books.......and we get a backup center with range? DD
I'm with Deckard on that one -- only if Utah tosses in the Knicks' unconditional #1 would I help Utah that much. However, we would lose Scola, Landry and Lowry (or at least two of the three) to cap needs. Morey would need to make even more trades before the end of the season -- gutting the team in effect. That's not very attractive.
I'm not a capologist. Thank goodness, we have some really amazing ones here. I certainly don't want to "gut the team," but I would like to see what Morey could do with a top pick, either with the pick itself or in a trade. And I don't want to lose Scola at all, although I've always said that if the right deal came along, anyone is fair game. I think Luis understands that part of the business. I don't know... I hate the Jazz with a passion and the idea of some of them on the Rocks, not matter how talented, makes me nauseous, but a top lotto pick would be untainted! We'd just have to suffer from the detritus, I guess, unless it was a 3-way.
Neither am I, but bimathug has made some very salient points in his thread. Okur doesn't help unless we trade Andersen, and then we have an upgrade. AK-47 doesn't help unless we get rid of one of our PFs -- unless you consider him a SF. Then we have to jettison Battier or Ariza. Every addition has consequences because we only have 15 roster spots. But, wow, wouldn't a top five pick be sweet?
Yes, it makes me excited thinking about it. I think we really have 14 spots if we cut Harris, who's just filling in Air Bud's spot.
yeah, that makes so much sense...except not. why would the hornets trade a top 5 nba player in chris paul? why would the jazz want mcgrady when boozer's contract comes off the books, too, and costs them a lot less luxury tax?
The Rockets aren't going to make a huge trade with a division rival. So if we see anything, it's going to be an exchange of bench players or draft picks as we've seen with our dealings to San Antonio. I have no clue how people derived Chris Paul to Houston out of this deal, but keep smoking your crack! I would rather have AB anyway.
I would love CP3 and believe he is more attainable than any player of his caliber in the NBA right now due to NO's situation. It is still a long shot and a last - bad - resort for NO. But, your logic does not make sense, "Screw systems and schemes". Why get a player who can not play to their potential? Although, I disagree that he would not fit in our system if he would be willing to do less dribbling on possessions where we do not NEED an instant bucket.
Oh ya that makes a ton ton sense.... That's what N.O. needs, Boozer, ya, they get an All-star to back up an All-star. PF is their strongest position, if they trade CP3, so it actually makes no sense to bring Boozer to N.O., fail.
Everyone step away from the ledge....does anyone remember the last time there was a three way deal between three playoff caliber teams in the same conference - much less trading away key pieces? The absurdity of the situation is enough to make you all realize it would NEVER happen - at least not with big names like Paul and Boozer involved...none of those teams are stupid enough to help a key direct competitor out.
Why would Utah do this? They would be essentially just trading one expiring contract (Boozer) for another (McGrady) - that doesn't help them at all, and in fact it increases their salary for this year. Further, their contracts aren't even close to adding up, so they couldn't do this deal even if you drugged Utah. Utah's not trading Boozer for another starting PF (West). They didn't give Millsap that money for him to come off the bench.
There are very few things that could make me stop being a Rocket fan. A trade with the Jazz is a step in that direction.
http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_y...F?slug=mc-jazznotes010410&prov=yhoo&type=lgns More on Jazz trying to dump salary. Sloan wants to keep The Deceiver, but ownership wants to save money. Jazz asking too much for Deceiver, trade partners want assurance they could resign him. Jazz trying hard to dump the Russian with the Hot Wife. No luck to find take for contract.
I wouldn't be willing to deal for that NY pick. In the piss poor east the Knicks could easily fall ass first into the playoffs. They are only a game behind out. There is a good chance that the Jazz miss the playoffs and are the ones in the lottery.
