Probably, but I don't think it means that much. It doesn't matter, anyway, because NBA teams rarely stand still. I expect our main competition to make moves to improve themselves, and we should do the same. In other words, even if we had a magical crystal ball that told us Yao would be 100% healthy for the entire 2010 playoff run, it would still be foolish to stand pat. The Rockets should (and I believe will) be aggressive this off season.
i think it was pretty obvious it wouldnt happen again...the lakers needed a wake up call and we gave it to them....they had to fight off the nuggetsfor a game or two because our series gave Denver a lot of confidence, but then it washed away...Lakers just took it to another level and then some..
At the end of the day it doesn't matter because they did not beat the Lakers which is the ultimate goal.
That is just straight up BS! They got their wake up call when we kicked their ass from start to finish in the opening game. Then Yao went down and we b**** slapped their face till they were so wide awake they couldn't sleep after an all night orgy in Sing-Sng, We gave the smelling sauce of defeat. And then we did it again. Even Kobe said we were not a chump team. But the fact is if Artest and Wafer could have given us a little bit and we just made a few less stupid plays in that final game, we would have been right there in the end and maybe could have stolen it. We didn't wake up the Lakers, we woke up and ourselves, realized we can beat these arrogant chumps if we just play harder and smarter. The Rockets woke up and took it to another level! If only we could have kept it at that level we would have won game 7. If Yao would not have been injured most of the 3rd game we would have won that one and we would be watching the lowest rated championship series in a while. So don't speak of the Rockets waking up the Lakers that is total BS.
ummm...how does that make my post "total BS".....i never said houston didnt wake themselves up......the rockets can wake themselves up AND wake up the lakers as well....you do realize we got blown out 2 of the last 3 games, right?
When the Rockets and Lakers were playing, I figured the winner of that series would win it all....... They were the 2 best teams left. DD
I'd love to see the Magic only have a six-game series with the Lakers -- and go home to a huge victory parade in Orlando.
They did claim their first Finals victory. If they're planning a celebration for that, Disney Land (or is that World) isn't too far.
Not to crack on you here, but I am really SICK of this mentality. SICK. The idea that the Rox only beat the Lakers because the Lakers "weren't on their game" is crap. They got punked in the first game at their own house. Can we consider THAT a wake up call? Did we not have their attention for the two games after that where we blew them off the floor? How many F$%^&*g wake up calls do they need? Please. Enough of this "Anointed Lakers" crap.
OK, why does "we gave them a wake up call" have to be seen as "houston didn't win, the laker let them" i'm sorry you're sick of it, but the bottom line is this team could have shredded us 2 games in a row after yao went down if they simply had gone to their big men. I'M sick of posters seeing it as black and white. Someone says the Lakers weren't playing their best and everyone else assumes it means they let houston win. It takes TWO teams to play a game. One team is always going ot have their mistakes and bad play and the other team has to respond by taking advantage of it. That's what houston did, the lakers came out careless and overconfident, and houston pounced on it. Nothing is being taken away from Houston by saying that, its not like LA handed them the ball and made baskets for them, Houston still had to go and play and win the game.....the lakers left the door open and houston walked through it, that doesn't mean houston got lucky, it doesnt mean houston's wins were flukes. However, having a 6'8 center and 6'6 back up is eventually going to be your downfall when you're facing a front line of 7'0, 7'0, and 6'10, once LA realized Houston wasn't folding they stuck to their bigs and closed it out. And i'm talking wake up call overall, as in the series was a wake up call to them, not one game, not one play.
