How's he a "whiny boy"? He wants to play with the Bucks. He wants to play in the NBA. It's the Chinese government that want Yi in a town with a larger Chinese population (LA, Golden State, Seattle, Houston, NY, etc.). Don't bash Yi for this. The same probably would've happened to Yao if the Bucks drafted him. From what I've seen, Yi is a very soft KG-like talent. It'll take him at least 2-3 years of NBA level training to reach anywhere close to KG's rookie year, but the potential is there. We just don't have the time with T-Mac's bad back and Yao hitting his prime to develop Yi. Scola's the better fit. If we can get Yi 4-5 years down the line to complement Yao, I'd be happy for it, but by that time, he may be quite hard to get.
This guy wasn't even the best player on the China team in the summer league. He obviously has some ego issues. What I saw didn't look too impressive but people will be willing to give up more than we can to get him. I think to get the Bucks to bite, we would have to offer up Scola but that's just me. I don't want him here to be honest and I think once our roster gets chiseled down, we'll have a pretty capable team. You guys need to listen to TMac...he said "we have the pieces right now." Now all we have to do is get rid of the guys that don't fit the puzzle.
Chinese gov? what are you smoking? It's not Chinese gov, it's his ex-CBA team, Gongdong Tigers, which is a private bball club owned by a Chinese businessman. His ex-CBA team just wants to make the biggest profit from him because even if Yi heads to NBA, they still have the contract to be the agent handling Yi's business (like endorsement) in China. I am surprised that you think gov plays a role in the case. It's all about money, though in a nasty way. Yi's ex-CBA team is owned by private.
Yes, Milwaukee was dumb. Why draft someone so opposed to you? They had some great trade offers for him, supposedly. It was a terrible move. Have you been to Milwaukee, though? Milwaukee is a great city. Outside of two high crime areas, it's incredibly safe. The cultural diversity is actually pretty solid, with areas high in Jewish, Hispanic, Italian, and other populations. On top of that, Milwaukee is known as the Festival City for its constant ethnic and music festivals. Things are cheap. Plus, you can drink anywhere. It is, after all, the drunkest city in America. The bottom line is this: Milwaukee may not receive the hype of the coastal cities, but it is awesome. These Chinese jerks want publicity and don't realize that a player's game should do the talking. It's a shame: Yi would have loved the life of a local celebrity just as JJ Hardy, Michael Redd, Prince Fielder, and others have.
