Great, great, great post!!! If you have been a Rocket fan before Yao, you know in your heart that you could never accept seeing Karla in a Rocket uniform. And as Clutch and several others have said, Malone won't play for a team that is not a legitimate championship contender. Dude is f*cking 41 and still trying to survive like a cockroach after a nuclear war just to get a damn ring. Just thinking about that makes me think that is the most pathetic thing in all of sports. Anyone who starts a thread about this vermin in this forum should be banned from this place forever. No warnings, no nothing, instant banning!!
Clove - would never throw rotten eggs at you only the finest fresh eggs and tomatoes. Ugly idea bringing Malone in at this stage, he is only a role player at this stage in his career and he only has one or two years left. He is better suited for teams like the Spurs or Heat that have a better chance of making it to the final round than the Rox. We need to focus on bringing young studs to make us younger and more athletic. As far as his leadership, I think he's not showing leadership by airing his feelings in public about Kobe's remarks. Pretty selfish and over reaction in my opinion.
Finally a little reason in this thread! Karla is all things anti-Rocket...its actually in the hand book, pg 1,994, i think.
What exactly did Malone do to the Rockets that makes you hate him so much? IMO, Malone is a physical, or as you would say, dirty player, but he's not violent. If he was violent, many would be in the hospital by now. My opinion of Malone is that, he does what it takes to win. He wouldn't intentionally hurt people, but he wouldn't try to avoid the contact either. I also think a lot of what he does, like Shaq, is magnified by his size. IMO, the Rockets would be fools not to sign him, consider that they would be on par with the Spurs to win the championship should they do that. What he does to past Rockets players should matter little IMO. After all, those guys were merely agents, much like Malone, in the quest to bring home that championship. To preclude one from joining because he insulted another in the past, is silly IMO. What if in the distant future, there's another guy capable of helping your team, and you shun him again because of how he'd treated your current players. You'd be going in circles wouldn't you? And if you think it's easy to build around Yao and T-Mac, trust me, you'll regret it in three or four years when you saw no one wants to deal with you. And then if you don't win a championship by then, Yao might leave. In short, your championship opportunities is too short to harbor any ill-will towards any potential major contributor toward that possible championship.
Read this site for clarification. The Drexler section explains one of the many reasons that true Rocket fans hate him.
Karl Malone's a great player and I'd love to see him in a Rockets uniform. Not likely to transpire, however.
