Bosh doesn't attack the rim better, and he's shorter. The only player in the league who attacks the rim like Amare is Lebron, and thats saying something. I agree that he's been a defensive liability, but he's made some improvements on that end. I think you're exaggerating when you say he needs those conditions met to score efficiently. Just my opinion.

Plus I like what Amare said about McGrady:)

"I'm not a fan of him as a person, or as a player."

    Gotta love it!

please no to amare. team chemistry is more important than having him as a scoring option. the guy still doesn't bring it on D. and he seems to be quite the prima donna. no more tmacs please.

My wishlist for the Summer, in order and realism...

    1) Al Jefferson - The pups will be in the market to move him, makes a reasonable salary (13 million) and has something to prove.
    2) Marc Gasol - VERY cheap, 18-10 guy waiting to happen and would be Yao insurance.
    3) Danny Granger - They suck with him so a shakeup could happen, they are losing money like crazy and need a pg(Brooks)

    Lower level gets...

    1) Camby - Obivous
    2) Mike Miller - Long time favorite and would be another option on the wing.

No we couldn't. He has to actually agree to a sign&trade to his future destination. If he doesn't agree and we sign him, we can only trade him after three months or December 15th, whatever comes first.

And in the scenario, where Rockets make the one-year qualifying offer for him and he for some reason accepts it, we can't trade him without his consent at all.

Man, I miss Landry as a Rocket.

-- that's about as useless a comment as the talk of gutting our team for the likes of Amare. Not only does he have serious ego and injury issues but he doesn't want to be here. Moreover, with the way that he has conducted himself in Pheonix I am not interested in him signing with the rockets organization and I hope the Morey and Les aren't either.
    Scola>amare.

Why do you miss him so much?
You got a legit 20ppg 2-guard for a guy who's undersized, an average defender and a sub par rebounder in a CAREER YEAR.
This year is about as good as Landry could play it's always best to sell high which Morey did.
You also gotta younger taller prospect with two potential Lottery selections (with a swapping of 2011 picks).
You also have ammo for a sign and trade of some kind in addition to Martin. You just can't beat the value Morey got for the guy.

AND YOU'RE FLAT OUT SMOKING THE PIPE IF YOU THINK THAT SCOLA IS BETTER THAN STOUDEMIRE AS A TALENT! You couldn't find one GM (including Morey) who would trade Stoudemire for Scola Straight up.

Besides we Chuck "Bill Russell" Hayes what more do you want GEEZ!

Not sure if Morey said it directly or if it came from Feigan but it was said that the Amare deal was an option when the team was looking to compete this year - but would have been bad for the longer term. Once that didn't happen, MOrey wants to focus on longer term options in the off season

Although I am not big fan of Amare, it will depend on what we are giving away for him in a sign and trade deal. If it cost more than scola or shane + Jared Jeffries + a draft pick, I would stay away from Amare.

That was the best reply you could come up with? Chuck is a great defender -- a championship level role player. He should not be starting, however. Like I said originally; if you think having chuck starting instead of amare would be more advantageous, then you need a cat scan.

I like this list behind Bosh...but what would make the T-wolves want to move Jefferson? He's only 25, reasonably priced, and it's not like they have a lot of bad contracts. Almost the same scenario with the Pacers and Granger- they do have bad contracts but are expiring next season. I think it would take monumental hauls to get these guys (Scola, Brooks, maybe Battier, and picks), and that's not what Morey is about.

Gasol might be more likely since the Grizz are so dysfunctional and have a glut of big men.

I agree.....we see and hear all the time about players only caring about their stats...I definitely wouldn't want a player nick-named STAT...

"I'm getting more expensive by the game."....when already makeing $17.7 m

Please Morey, let his ego be another teams' problem.

I'd agree. In fact, if I recall, Amare's stats without Nash are on-line or even better. Moreover, while I used to think he got an advantage from being defended by slower centers, I think this is less and less the case. First, because it isn't always true anymore. But moreso, because I just think regardless of if Amare is being defended by a guard or PF, he will get his. That said, against the better defenders in the league, he may not dominate quite as much (I haven't checked any stats or anything?) but who doesn't? Lebron had a horrible game last year with Artest/Battier guarding him...that's why those guys are known as better defenders.

Still, I wouldn't really want Amare. I do think he is really playing for a contract. I won't say for sure that means his stats go down next year (he seems like a guy who really likes to play and play well anyway), but he's certainly keenly aware of his contract situation. Moreover, factually, his stats are impacted by the fast pace he's always played in. He isn't a great rebounder or defender. And he does have a prima-donna attitude about him.

Would have agreed with you before, but not big on Al Jefferson anymore. No, he is having a down year, which doesn't help him, but after watching him more and more, he doesn't seem like he gets "winning basketball", seems to be somewhat of a volume shooter (for his position and style of play, his FG% is somewhat lower than you'd expect), and $13 million a year isn't exactly pocket change.

I'd offer this guy the MLE in a second, or offer Battier for him, etc. But I don't really see the Grizz parting with him...certain not without some effort to keep him, and the Rockets won't have enough money to spend to get him.

Love Granger, but not sure I'd give up Brooks for him. Not because Brooks is better, but I do think PG position is a little bit unique and somewhat harder to fill and because while not better, Brooks is even unique in the PG position. I attribute the 7 game series against the Lakers last year almost entirely due to Brooks ability to dominate the PG position in that series - when he did well, the team did well, on the road, he struggled. PLUS, while he'll certainly get paid more in his next contract, I see AB as always being a better value - he won't get Danny Granger money.

Danny Granger is actually well worth his contract. He is basically making Kevin Martin money, this year he earns a little bit over 10M, which isn't too bad for his production.

He might not be a true franchise player, but he really isn't paid like one either.

I would love to have Amare on this team. Just as long as we don't overpay.

    I agree.

Just saying, I don't think AB gets $10 million a year. I'd agree that he's not Danny Granger level talent - but he's not far off, his role on this Rockets team is more important and I'd rather have AB + Kevin Martin with Lowry as a backup PG to surround Yao; as opposed to trying to package AB for Danny Granger (as the original post suggested - even though it would take some creative math to work) and have Lowry, Kevin Martin Danny Granger (I think it's a worse three-some and short a backup PG).

I'll disagree on Jefferson, his shooting percentage is about the same as Bosh and is an almost guaranteed 18-10 guy this season going through a down year. Last season before he went down Jefferson was putting up 23/11/2 per game, that is pretty awesome. The game that won me over was the triple overtime game here and how he almost willed his team to the win. The guy is stuck in a horrible spot and from all I've read he isn't happy, Love isn't happy and we all know he was offered up for Granger at the deadline so Kahn will try to make everyone happy. Kahn is so over matched that I think Morey could do some major damage if these two guys hooked up in negotiations.

Gasol is the prize, I put him 2nd because I think it will be harder to pry him away from the Griz then Al from the Pups but just imagine what a Gasol/Scola front court will do to teams. It might take some work but we would be set if it happened.

Granger is elite in my book but has the same problem Jefferson does, being on a crappy team. He is the finisher that this team lacks, did you know that he is 5th in the league in 4th qtr points(AVG)? I would ONLY move AB for elite players not Jefferson, Gasol or even Rubio but IMO Granger is elite.

I've looked at Bosh and Amare's advanced stats, and they both appear to be interchangeable. Bosh is a little better rebounder, but Amare is a little better finisher. Amare gets a FG% boost from Nash. It appears the Rockets could have had Amare at the deadline if they wanted him, i don't think he wants to come to Houston. I would rather go after Bosh anyway, he appears to be less of a primadonna and just as good a player, if we could get him to come here.

You know guys, the more i think about it, maybe the solution to our problem is an allstar point guard? I mean, it is true that having Bosh or Amare would not be much of an upgrade over Scola. Also, what's most important is getting a 7 footer or two in the draft to back up Yao. One in particular is Solomon Alabi aka the second coming of Olajuwan.
