Hmm if head is to be our starting 2guard then i really cannot put the trigger on the deal.. i can't imagine the state of this board if head is starting.. :p

IMO.. we need to get rid of head.. not make him our starter but im all up for getting sheed.

Joe Dumars said clearly he doesn't want roles players, he wants other teams' best players.

Actually, the PF position is the least I am concerned. I would rather have a PG, a sf/sg, or a backup C first.

If we trade with detroit, we have to do a big one:

    Yao/bjax for sheed/billups/some young players

    or tmac/b jax for rip/billups

Although Wallace has talent, his personal discipline, shows that he is not a player to be relied upon, being one with his own adgenda apart from being a team player.

I think anyone that is conjuring up trades including Rasheed and Detroit getting back a superstar talent are dillusional. No team with a true superstar like McGrady is going to trade for Rasheed and send out McGrady or any other superstar. It is simply not enough.

First of all, Rasheed is an expiring contract with a history of volatile, team destroying episodes. No playoff team with championship aspirations is going to want to take him on and take the risk of him flaking out and give away a superstar in the process. Not gonna happen. San Antonio ain't gonna give Duncan, Manu, or Parker for him and Hamilton or Prince or Chauncey. Dallas ain't giving up Dirk or Josh for him and Hamilton or Prince or Chauncey. New Orleans ain't giving up CP3 or West for him and whoever. Denver ain't giving up Iverson or Melo for him and whoever. Utah ain't giving up Booz or DWill for him and whoever. Utah MAY be willing to give up AK-47 for him and say, Tayshaun. But AK-47 is probably Utah's 4th best player. Phoenix?? - they would possibly move Shaq I suppose for Rasheed and some other junk. There is no playoff team with championship aspirations that is going to trade away any of their superstar foundation core for Rasheed and whoever. So, WHY DOES ANYBODY THINK THE ROX WOULD BE DUMB ENOUGH TO DO THIS?

Secondly, Rasheed is getting OLD. He is, at best, a 1 to 2 year rental. And his game is in decline.

Thirdly, the teams that would trade for Rasheed are teams looking for cap space. You trade McGrady for Rasheed and RIP, so what you got $10 mill of cap space year after next. What are you going to get for it? You are sure not going to get one of the top superstars like DWade or Lebron with that. You're going to get a second tier star player, not a superstar difference maker. That's not how you win championships.

I will predict that if Rasheed gets moved, he gets moved to a noncontending team in exchange for a talented but overpaid player with a longer contract and possibly other compensation included. Or if Rasheed goes to a contender in trade it will be included with someone like Chauncey in exchange for the playoff team's 3rd best player at most and possibly a draft pick or another player that Detroit feels they can use. I will predict that if Rasheed gets moved with Chauncey or any other player, Detroit will NOT get back a superstar player that is the best player in the deal.

I would also be willing to bet that if Rasheed is not where he wants to be next year that he will throw a fit until he is bought out and released and given his freedom to go to the team he wants to play for. And I'm actually hoping this is the scenario with him and he wants to play for the Rockets. I'd love to have him at the minimum or near minimum playing as a role player on our team. But I'm not willing to trade anything for him. I want a motivated Rasheed playing his butt off for a contract the following season coming down the stretch, adding him to our other 5 bigs (Yao, Scola, Landry, Hayes, Deke).

    6. Houston's Tracy McGrady and No. 25 pick for Rip Hamilton and Rasheed Wallace

This is the least favorable option for the Pistons, but worth noting.

The Rockets flirted with moving McGrady at the trade deadline, but they couldn't find a deal that worked for them. Would the Pistons be able to help them out?

McGrady, like Anthony, is a go-to scorer, and at 29 years old, he still has some gas left in the tank. He averaged 27 ppg in the Rockets' last playoff series with Utah.

The key advantage for the Pistons? They would get some important, long-term cap relief down the road -- enough to make a run at a max free agent.

But there's a significant downside here. McGrady has never led a team deep into the playoffs. He also has a history of back problems and has missed significant portions of several seasons.

This deal would be a no-brainer for the Rockets, who would seriously upgrade their guard position and, with Wallace, would put the perfect complement next to Yao Ming.

    DON'T DO IT!

So replacing tmac with rip would seriously upgrade our guard position??

Again, I would do it if it's tmac+bjax for billups + rip, that would indeed seriously upgrade our guard position.

I know what we need is a veteran point guard with a high bball IQ, plenty of playoff/finals experience, and a good balance of scoring and playmaking (i.e. Billups). I also know that we need to add the final piece(s) so we can win now. Maybe an athletic swingman

I want Billups but only on one condition: We can't give up too many of our good new additions or young guns. Like Scola, Landry, etc. We can't fill one spot and leave another totally vulnerable. As well as our teams future vulnerable. We can't have a 34 year old Billups and a 32 year old (already ailing) T-mac and a mediocre bench in 2 or 3 years.

Imagine where the celtics will be in 3 years or so. They will have to rebuild because I'm sure at least 2 of the big three will be retired by then, and the other will be at the end of their career. But yes, they may have one or two rings in the end.

So I wan't to make the move if we can, but it has to be with the right players and maybe draft picks.

I mean, look what happened to the mavericks?
