I wouldn't be looking to make too many moves. Since we have no shoot at getting Mike Miller, I say we draft Brandon Rush. He is athletic, a decent defender and has a great outside jump shoot. He can fit well into this team playing 10 minutes a game, and under T-Mac and Battier, may develop into a valuable asset for the future. I don't beleive in disrupting the core group of players we have. We could have easily gone to the conferance finals this season if Yao and T-Mac didn't get hurt. Improve from within and draft some youth.
While I would not necessarily agree to make this move, would a package of Luis Scola, Bobby Jackson's expiring contract and our first rounder get it done?
I could never imagine in my wildest dreams that the Rockets would be wanting to have SHEED WALACE as part of their team
Sheed's old and cranky. I'd only take him for expiring contracts at the trade deadline, because he can only stay fired up for half a season. If I'm detroit though, I'd package him with Billups for a young up and coming power forward and a high draft pick. Stuckey looks like the real deal and needs more time, Sheed won't listen to their new coach, and Billups is still good but no way he stays that way by the time his contract is up.
I think they would ask for more but it's possible that Detroit would agree to the deal that you mentioned if they want to get rid of him provided if it works cap wise. I wouldn't trade Luis for Sheed.
People seem to be more down on Sheed than they need to be. He's far away from being an all-star now. He's old. We know that. But that doesn't mean he can't still play, and that doesn't mean he isn't an awfully good defender at the 4 who can also hit the 3-ball. A guy with Sheed's skillset exactly fits what we want at the 4. He'd lend size to what has been a tiny team the last couple years, and he can play minutes at the 5. He's even got an expiring contract, for crying out loud! I don't see why we shouldn't be interested, for the right price.
Scola should not be traded for Sheed. Rockets do not to make big moves. I believe they only need to tweak the roster.
I would hope character still counts for something when bringing in a player. I'll pass on this moron. Also, I promise in the next year or two he will completely lose his game. He is too old and too lazy for his body and his skills to not start betraying him any day now. Much like some of the older boxers who seem to age 10 years in 8 months between fights it will catch Sheed and he'll end up at the end of the rotation and then the end of the bench in 2 years.
This is the mentality every year and every year we can't get out of the 1st round. We need an impact player. Now whether that is Sheed is another matter all together.
Comparing Sheed to Tim Thomas is like comparing Scola (sheed) to Stromile Swift (Tim Thomas). Why do you like underachieving nitwits so much?
This was the only year we have made some good acquisition (Morey). The other years we didn't improve. The Point guard was garbage and the PF was garbage. Now we are just a good back Point guard away and a back up wing player for being a contender. Did i forgot health??? An impact player don't going to a make difference if you give in return another impact player(s). And without Yao playing no impact player can help us. And the Rockets goals is to build a championship caliber team not a first round winner with a bounch of bad contract and over the hill players.
Get sheen would help us greatly, and RA seems to be that right coach for him. If he can coach artest he can coach sheen. The problem and only issue we have is who we gonna trade that would have pistons listen? Dumars is not a dumb dude. He will probably want scola and Landry, specially when we got no high first round picks. they already have prince so they need no battier. They are not going to take on Tmac's contract for sure, and it's not equal value. I say this rumor has no chance in happening.
It's simple: We have to acquire Darko, and then maybe Dumars will want to reacquire him in exchange for Sheed...
