Exactly .. the squeaky wheel gets the oil

I think this is more an example of how the system does not work
their is obviously too many places where laziness, bigotry and just plain
incompetence can enter and silence things that need to be heard

Like back in the day . . .the system would tell you
YOU ASIANS BEING SENSATIVE . . . THE ARE *sic* ISOLATED INCIDENTS

the question becomes. . . how many ISOLATED INCIDENTS make a Trend

As for the question raised by the title
    It is IMO TOTAL BS
because the outcry would only come from Blacks'
as here it is mainly coming from the Asian community

Look at Rodney King . .. those kind of beat downs happen all the time
in the black community we complained about it for years but the rest
of the nation figure we were making sh*t up .. . that is until we got one
on tape. . . .then . . we were told that was an 'isolated incident'

I noticed one thing in the article
no where in there.. . .that I saw . . did it mention that the perpatrators
    were other Minorities. .
Yet the convo turned to Minority on Minority Discrimination
    Why is that? Interesting . . . .

    As for why
    1. Sociology
If you put 7 people in a cage and beat 2 of them unmercifully every day
then . . .take two the side and pat them on the head and make sure they
well fed. . . .give them all sorts of liberties and priviliges
that will foster resent me. . . kind of like the Favored Child of the parents
being pick on by his siblings [a simplification but i think you get the jist]

    2. Competition
You put 7 people in a cage. . and only throw in 5 apples. . .
more than likely someone will get popped in the head

Well it turned into minority discrimination for me because I know that high school and this kind of stuff between Chinese and black students have been going on for years.

I alos think you're dead on about the favored child thing. Asians are perceived as the favorite child of white America by other minorities (not all, it's a generalization).

If I were confronted by a group of black kids, I would tell them, "Chairman Mao says, Africans and Asians are both oppressed people. Lets unite and fight the oppressors!"

Or, as Jesus would do, if they want 20 bucks, I give them 40. If they want my sun glasses, I also give them my watch.

Saudi Arabia's treatment of foreigners is barbaric and inhumane. The racism, xenophobia, bigotry, sexism in that society is probably second to none

you can read about it here:

P.S.: the next time you go there, just hope they dont kidnap your south asian ass and turn you into a camel jockey

It's high school. Kids are merciless dicks. There will always be bullies who pick on weaker and different kids. This is the fault of the parents who didn't raise their children right.

Whenever the majority feels there is a threat from minorities, split them up and have them compete with each other. Have asians compete against the blacks and the hispanics. Then divide the asians by economic lines, and divide the blacks into rich and poor so there are always a few "model" black people you can use as an example to create tension in the group. Hell, the republicans mastered this tactic and now use it on the Dems, notice how they point out "model democrats" as ones that support them on key issues (and the dems did it to the republicans a while back but never perfected it). It's the perfect tactic when dealing with a minority or smaller opposing forces (the military does it too).

Yea, I would agree with that. There would only be outcry coming from the Black community and the rest of us would simply dismiss it as black playing the race card again. "Black Paranoia" is also a very fascinating topic. Case in point, following Gary Webb's exposure of the CIA's role in drug distribution in the ghettos of Los Angelos, the media was generally apathetic in regards to the story and it was widely dismissed. Soon though, the story picked up stea m amongst blacks as they finally had proof that the White Man had been holding them down. This set off a chain of events from even the liberal press to discredit the story and quell the "Black Paranoia."

Race relations are fascinating. I wish we would have more threads like this rather than the partisan mud flinging.

Yep. And any black who prospers through education is labeled as "selling out." If you turn them against one another, you can keep any group down.

I agree. Affirmative action is the only systematic and mathematically provable racism that exists today. Many Asian kids are denied admissions into schools so that "underrepresented" minorities can be admitted in their stead. As an Asian - I find this aspect of affirmative action to extremely divisive. Certainly feels like white people dividing us up into groups and telling us what's best for us.

This thread title is pretty damn stupid and insulting. you're essentially comparing the discrimination and hardships blacks experienced in this country for 300+ years to some kids getting bullied.

I didnt get that at all from the title. He's just talking about how Chinese people don't culturally speak out like Blacks do. That has nothing to do with the history or blacks in America. It's more of an opinion on how the two cultures are different in the way we approach things.

but it does have to do with history. why do you think the media may be concerned with discrimination against blacks (which I don't agree with) than other groups.

the thread title is refering to how the events are perceived by the media and the rest of the country, not about how the victims would have reacted. I know exactly what the thread title means, he feels that if this was happening to blacks there would be more of an outcry from everyone. Its the same old tired complaint.

Except that many whites complain that affirmative action hurts them too.

The outcry if it did happen to blacks would come from prominent black leaders like Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, etc.
