Yeah it just sounds like you are trying to get JHo promoted and I am doing my best to get his @$$ benched.....so JHo's REAL height is what - 6'7"? EASILY the better defender? What can be worse than horrible? Horribler-er? So the difference is (guessing here) Jho knows when they are going to blow by him and punk him so he relaxes and enjoys the money, while Novak remains puckered up and expends too much energy being tight because he actually thought he had a chance to do something against his man? All the while Yao gets another cheap foul trying to help out. Thinking now - Novak actually does something stupid like touch the man blowing by him so he gets the foul and then Yao doesn't. Team is improved by inexperienced defense!
Why is that BS? All of those guys are strong post players and clearly what the Rockets are trying to do is get a power forward that plays from the outside in instead of the inside out. Nothing in my post say's anything bad about those players. They are all great players and did not even say that they would not be good with Yao Ming...Only that someone like Tom Chambers would be a better fit with the type of player that Yao Ming is. Of course you didn't read the whole thing so you really were not equipped to comment on my post or post in this thread. And since you did not read the whole thing you are clearly clueless as to if it is BS or not.
Novak is 6'8" without shoes, 6'9.25" with shoes i doubt he can play PF he's not big or physical enough
Novak may develop into a sharpshooting starting sf. If he can score and keep his fould down in this league he can start. Does Glen Robinson play D?
Hmm to me, this trade would only look good if: 1) Rudy Gay turns out to be the next Eddie Griffin or 2) Houston Rockets wins a championship If Rudy turns out to be a serviceable player of Battier's caliber (even if he is not a star), and the Rockets don't win a championship in the next 2 to 3 years, then this trade is not good. Remember that Gay will only command rookie level salary for the next few years, many times less than Battier.
Now this is more of a reality. Although with Tmac and Battier on board I would have to say bad things would have to Happen to Houston for this to come to pass anytime soon.
There is a place called Gym, that is the place Yao goes to build up all those muscle. Novak could be a perfect PF for Rockets with his shooting skill.
There is this thing called genetics, that is the place Yao got 7'6". And as good as Yao has bulked up, he had the frame for it-- yet no one will ever mistake him for Ben Wallace. He will also never have the explosiveness of a KG. Novak can add some muscle, for sure, but he will never be able to bulk up to guard 4's with consistency-- unless the Western Conference starts converting their teams to the Suns.
This thread is getting a little loopy. If Novak ever develops into a starting caliber player it will be down the line. How many times has it been said about a draftee "if he would hit the weights and gain 10-20 lbs of muscle" he would really be something. Give it a rest. I'm glad we drafted Novak but let's be realistic about what he will be his first couple of years. For the long term, his likely upside is to be a rotation player off the bench.
If Novak can bulk up, learn to play good team defense, and grab 7 boards a game he should start over Juwon. Until then I do not think he should. Throughout the course of this coming season I hope he can learn from Juwon on how to do the most with limited physical ability. Once he learns how to play decent defense he will be a better asset than Juwon simply based on his ability to spread the floor with his outside shooting.
A 6'9" Novak is a good enough size for a PF if he bulked up as Yao do for a Center. As Benjamin Franklin said, "Certainty? In this world nothing is certain but death and taxes." So don't be so certain that Novak will never be a good PF.
PLease go with the flow and don't expect too much from Novac. He isn't a Power Forward but he has the potential to be a crack three point shooter. I just hope that JVG doesn't try and make him into something he is not. Let him develop without pressure.By the way do you agree with the idea that Battier is going to be our Power Forward? I for sure see this as a weaknes in the managements thinking and one which draws them away from the effort to trade Howard.
Is anyone else reminded of Dan Langhi when they watch Steve Novak? Except that Langhi had more game in college?
If you replace Jho and put tom chambers = 1 or 2 rnd loss in playoffs If you replace Jho and put kg,td,barkely= Dynasty pretty simple
