The bottom line is that none of these guys, dmo, tjones or casspi, are an ideal option to start at PF. It is more by default if one of them will starts.

Don't believe me, I'll prove it. Mchale hasn't penciled in any of them as the starter yet. So either you're gonna make a ridiculously delusional argument that all three are starting PF worthy players, or clearly our coach hasn't seen enough out of either dmo or tjones; and Mchale has seen a lot more from these players than any of us.

When you experiment with a starting position, it's either a good situation or a bad one. Unfortunately, You're not gonna see an article quoting Mchale saying "we have two starting PFs" like the pg debate about Lin and bev.

All I see you do is follow me around and hang on to something I said over two years ago as if you are the Virgin Mary and never been wrong. Obviously you have no interest in actually discussing basketball with me, so like I told the other guy, you should put your money down so that we can both STFU.

Like I already said, I am giving both of you FIVE TO ONE on your money. Plus Dmo and Jones COMBINED minutes and starts vs. Casspi.

You guys keep on repeating the same old ****. If you believe in it so much, I don't see how you can turn this down.

In 192 preseason minutes, DMo and TJones have combined to shoot 3 for 15 (20%) from the 3-point line.

In just 114 preseason minutes, Omri Casspi has shot 9 for 23 (39%) from the 3-point line.
    --------------------------
    --------------------------
In 192 preseason minutes, DMo and TJones have combined to shoot 26 for 50 (52%) from inside the 3-point line.

In just 114 preseason minutes, Omri Casspi has shot 16 for 21 (76%) from inside the 3-point line.
    ----------------------
    ----------------------

Omri Casspi has outrebounded both DMo and TJones in preseason.

    ----------------------

Omri Casspi has a better assist/turnover ratio than either of DMO/TJones

    ----------------------

Based on preseason the ONLY category that you can make an argument in that one of DMo/TJones has been better at is TJones defensively. You could possibly make the case that TJones is a better defensive player than Casspi.

    ----------------------

Statistically...it's not even close. Casspi has proven to be the superior player at the 4 over both DMo and TJones this preseason.

    ---------------------

FACTS - - It's impossible to get around the facts.

Another fact is that Casspi did most of that at the very end of 4th quarter games early in preseason.....you know, garbage time. His play has been steadily worse as he was inserted earlier in games. Anyway this whole thing will play itself out so I'm not worried about it.

As opposed to what???? DMo and TJones lining up wide open 3-balls next to Dwight and clanking????

If you need offense at the 4...you go with Casspi/Parsons/Garcia. If you need defense at the 4...you go with Asik. DMo and TJones are stuck in no-man's land, not good enough offensively to crack the rotation...not good enough defensively to garner significant minutes over Asik. They're the 9th and 10th men in the rotation...which is not a good place to be for 2nd year players as far as their asset value goes.

    1. I actually think Brewer is in front of them, but we'll see about that. Brewer is not the greatest fit with this team without an outside shot, but clearly the better player compared to Dmo/Jones. I am expecting a 8 1/2 man rotation on opening night. We already know who the 8 guys are. As for the 1/2 man, it might be 6 minutes of Dmo, or it might be 6 minutes of Brewer. We'll see.

    2. What we know is that Morey already tried to dump Jones for a 1st round pick at last year's deadline, with no takers. By now, after showing little to no improvement that I can notice, I'd imagine his trade value is a 2nd rounder at best. Not sure if Dmo's is any better. Whether you play these guys or not, we are talking about minimal value here anyways. I don't really see anything going to waste. Would you play them some token minutes to hope in the best case they fetch an extra 2nd rounder, while at the same time costing you a couple wins? I wouldn't.

These long shot gambles were a necessity when the team had zero allstars. But now that the team is contending, it really doesn't matter anymore whether they turn into anything useful or not.

There's no debate that Casspi has outplayed T-mo in the preseason. To say that Casspi has proven his superiority, however, is not reasonable. 76% from 2 point range? There is no chance that that number holds for the season. Even the 39% he's shooting from 3 is above his career high average. If Casspi reverts to form, things won't look so awesome.

Do you think he will revert to 20% from the 3-point line????? Because that is the form and norm for DMo and TJones.

So if 3% and 2% is all that matters for you at PF, then lets put Beverley there, couse he's a sick rebounder too!

T-Jones & Donuts have shown enough not to be viewed in that catergory unlike the Busty Twin.

Donuts seems to be the best option out of the three (T-Jones & Casspi) for the PF spot but none have looked like clear cut starters.

    Missed this from earlier.

The San Antonio Spurs, one of the best run organizations in the league, valued Splittler at $10M a year and is paying him accordingly. If you think that Dmo and Jones are better, how much do you think they would get offered? $12M a year? The max? Can we trade Dmo+Jones for Tim Duncan? Or is he too old?

Like I told you earlier, being too scared to put money down on your position doesn't affect your credibility, per se.

But being a complete moron does.

A complete moron? Like talking up Marcus Morris? Sorry you have no credibility when it comes to your ability to judge talent.

Thank you. For some reason it seems like people around here think that a PF is supposed to be a position where you want nothing but jacking up 3 pointers....

It's ok, let's just wait till the next preseason game happens, the Rockets will experiment with a different rotation and they'll lose their minds jumping to completely different conclusions. SMH.

Jones and Donuts are coming off their subpar rookie campaigns. If they slump through a sophomore season they'll be in the exact same category as the Busty Twin....who, by the way, would be a better fit at the 4 for this team with Dwight than either of DMo or TJones. Busty Twin is 7 for 14 from 3 this preseason. He's probably finding himself and looks poised to be much improved this year.

    "Busty Twin" is extremely inconsistent.

    True.

But not as inconsistent as 20% from the 3-point line.

You guys fail to fully understand how bad DMo and TJones are failing right now.

I do. I understand that they are so bad that they are capable of contributing to a winning effort even though Howard isn't performing up to par.
If you are only looking for them to shoot three pointers then yeah they have been bad. Luckily that is not all that is required of them at the 4. The more you nitpick, the worse they look.
