Hate to quote someone at random but he brings up a good point. If 'nobody' (Marc Spears) wants T. Rob and who'd want R. White (I mean come on). And Dwight wants Asik. Could Lin be traded? What do you reckon.
It's not no one wants T-Rob, just they want him for a low price. Lin could be traded, but not for making room for Dwight. If we can get a good star player in return, Lin can be traded, though his value right now isn't high. Asik is easier to be traded and potentially we can get something valuable in return. Asik is a waste to play backup for Dwight, though with Dwight's injury history, Asik is a good safe factor.
I don't understand your poll. Is there not an option for only T-Rob (and possibly White) being traded?
Trading away $8.3 million in salary is overkill; there are small moves to be made that can open up the $20 million needed. If Lin is traded it won't be for cap space for Dwight; it'll he for an upgrade.
LoL yeah definitely effed up the polls. But I figured that well if they are both traded then you don't need to trade Lin. Sorry I'm doing a stats. assignment right now.
Wouldn't it be great if Dwight was willing to come here and willing to take a little less than the max. That way we get to keep everyone, give TRob a little more time, and have his contract as well as a few others, including Royce White's expiring, tradable later in the season.
No sign and trades with LA. There is really no point unless Dwight is bent on helping out his former team as he leaves. Hah!
That would be nice, but it's not our money being left on the table. And I'd love to see the Rockets start training camp with more certainty at the four.
It is possible that Morey will entertain offers as a backup option for Asik or possibly Lin if any deal for Thomas Robinson cannot be made. Still I think the Rockets would only consider this as an absolute backup to the backup scenario. Part of Howard's appeal of coming to the Rockets is playing with this young core... Jeremy Lin included. Plus the Asian market is something that is probably on his list of pros for coming to Houston. Im just not sure if Howard would still want to come to Houston is they are depleting their core group to make cap space. They most likely are just focusing on trading Thomas Robinson, but might listen to offers that are coming in as backup options they could utilize in July if they absolutely had to.
I remember reading that Lin is actually paid 5M + 5M + 10M. But for the rockets, they can average this out over the 3 years, for cap purposes, which is 8.xx However, the team he is traded to has to pay the 5 and 10 in year 3. Was info only.
Just add Lin to the title and it will draws more view. Anyway, I think Lakers should do the trade for Lin/Asik/TRob + Money/picks for Howard/Nash. MDA needs a young and healthy PG to run his offense. It is a win/win situation for both them. If you just put Lin out for Howard, I don't see how that will help the Lakers
The Heat traded Daequan Cook and the 18th pick (they didn't want that either) for the 32nd pick from OKC back in 2010. They literally gave up assets of negative value to them for a high 2nd round pick. There is no chance that Thomas Robinson can't be traded for nothing considering even the Heat got something in return.
Nope. Any team Lin (or Asik) is traded to will get the same cap hit of roughly $8.3m a year. However they have to actually pay (like into his bank account) 5/5/15. So if he is traded at the beginning of his final year, the team he is going to will take a cap hit of $8.3m but have to pay $15m actual money to him. It makes trading Lin in his second year (i.e. now) slightly more palatable.
