Ok even if we don't use that and use 8 mil per year, what do you have to say to that? He should be put on the same standard? Either way, it doesn't make sense.
Ginobili right now? Yes. Prime Ginobili? **** no. Prime Ginobili was borderline superstar if not a superstar.
There aren't many top sixth man point guards. Jack is one, but thats only cuz Curry is the starting point guard. When you have a point guard who is an overall better player, playmaker, and facilitator, you don't just designate him to a sixth man role for your other point guard just because that other point guard can do a couple things better. I honestly think Bev is perfect off the bench with sometimes extended minutes because of the energy he brings. But in the end, you always go with the more quintessential point guard as the starter. Besides, its not like Lin is a high scoring guy like other top sixth men in J.R or Crawford. Hr's been fine this year as the starting point, Bevs been fine as a backup with extended minutes, and each will both get better
Yes. I believe very strongly that this is Lin's future if he remains in Houston. Beverly is outplaying him in the playoffs by a huge margin. Here's how: 1. Beverly isn't turning the rock over nearly as much per minutes played. 2. Beverly is playing plus defense, not always reflected in the stats, but consistently harassing not only his man, but others as well. 3. Beverly is scoring more than Lin. Both more and more efficiently. Higher shooting percentages and 3 percentages, and more ppg. 4. Beverly has been able to create his own shot or create for others by being able to get consistent penetration which Lin seemed not to be able to do. 5. Beverly's energy and relentless passion for the game helped set the tone for the Rockets' comeback in this series. Parsons also has helped set that tone, but Beverly's toughness and grit is important psychologically. In short, if Lin is getting minutes over Beverly tonight, I'm going to be "yelling at the tv" angry. If Lin is spelling Beverly or Harden, I will be fine (unless he's turning the rock over, in which case he can sit down and watch the game just like me). Honestly, Brooks has provided a nice spark when he's been in there too, getting consistent penetration, hitting short range floaters and shots, and passing the ball effectively. His defense and tenacity doesn't nearly match Bev's, but Brooks can certainly put the ball in the hole and put pressure on OKC's defense. I think Lin backing up Harden is a more natural fit. Let Lin dominate the ball and essentially BE Harden when Harden's not out there - we absolutely need someone who can score by driving and creating their own shot, (and to an extent also hit 3s and pass the ball effectively). Linsanity was at its peak in New York when Lin was called upon to be a primary scorer, and there's no reason to think he can't answer the call to do that again, albeit in more limited time because Harden does what Lin does, but a bit better. But if Lin gives you even 10-15 mins a night of inspired, aggressive, turnover free play, you are WAY AHEAD. If Harden can rest and not worry about losing the lead, we are a better team for it.
No way. harden plays 40+ minutes. There is almost no room for a sixth man. This is just a disguised bench Lin thread.
Lin will most likely start tonight and rightfully so pimpn. He has been our starter all season long. He is one of the many reasons why we are in the playoffs. So he deserves to start.
There is no such thing as "deserve to start" IMO. Beverly has handled the job well and it should be his to lose until Lin shows he is healthy enough to be the starter again. Until then, why go away from something that currently works?
Not necessarily. I think Harden could benefit from some added rest in game. Give Harden and extra 4-5 minutes rest a game. Let Lin have about 10 minutes a game without Harden and split some time with Beverly, I think it could work.
One problem is, Ginobili was a starter during the 2004-2005 championship year and only became the sixth man later. Lin is much less reckless and more of a facilitator than scorer. Harden on the other hand, plays very much like Ginobili with the craftiness, Euro step, lefty step-back jumpers; I think like Ginobili and Parker, Harden and Lin could play together.
Hey im not a Lin only fan. And I wouldnt be disappointed at all. Beverely is balling his butt off indeed. But I believe Lin will be in that starting line-up tonight, so dont be surprised.
Just like in real life, reputation and timing count for a lot. You guys were just ahead of your time. Can't help you with the rep thing.
Would be great if Lin could contribute 13/6 off the bench, have him come in against the other team's bench unit - he will probably be less likely to play scared.
