We can't seem to land any superstar free agents so I don't see us landing a superstar coach or even a star coach, not when LA has a vacancy...

Oh yeah, who would want a team that is expected to be a contender for the Championship year in and year out and has arguably the best player in the game for the last decade. That would suck.

We need a coach to develop players.

They need a coach to manage star egos and keep Kobe happy.

    Edited for the truth :(
It's gotta be Shaw, that's the only way Fisher keeps his job.

For all the perks LA has to offer, they're all negated by having to coach an aging Kobe.

If the guy is ok with being next in line after Phil Jackson. With whatever he does considered a failure if he doesnt win a Championship? Then that should be enticing to him otherwise. Not all guys are gonna find that job enticing to follow a legend with such a high probability of failure barring a Championship. Not only that aging team where that Championship is becoming less and less likely for his successor. Who lets be honest? Wont be as good as Phil Jackson.

i think the lakers will look at adelman, sloan, and other HOF/win now type coaches. big time job needs a big time name. if not, they promote shaw.

i don't think casey or frank will be high on their list, but for argument sake lets say they are. i view them as being pretty equal as coaches. might give the slight edge to casey. either way the lakers can only hire one guy. the rockets can have the other guy. not a big loss either way, and thats the worst case scenario which probably won't happen.

After their meltdown, no. Look for LA to hire in-house for their next coach. I'm pretty sure that nobody wants to fill Jackson's shoes after everything that's transpired.

If they get some fresh blood in there player wise, maybe. With the existing core intact going into next season, forget it. Any coach walking into that situation will most probably be signing his own career death warrant.

Why does it matter at this point. We gave up the best possible coach available in Rick, anyone we hire will be a downgrade, plus we are rebuilding and developing young players apparently, so coaching doesn't really matter.
