I think that T-Mac can take this team to the Finals. So your question is pointless.

The answer is YES since Kobe plays defense better than Tmac and he attacks the basket more often, did I mention he shoots better than TMac?

No. Kobe is great and better than T-Mac at this stage of their respective careers, but he might be able to get us to the next round or beyond, but not win it all over the likes of the Suns and the Spurs.

I will say what I always say: Kobe might be the best wing player in the league, but his impact is waaaaaaaay overrated by the media and those who worship at his alter. He's basically the best scorer in the game now, and that's where it ends.

You always take the dominant big man over the dominant guard. Shaq + (insert any superstar wingman: T-Mac, AI, Pierce, Lebron, Wade) is much more potent than Yao + Kobe. Consider this: an inexperienced Shaq + Penny duo got to the Finals and were legit contenders every single season. Now I don't know about you, but I don't think Penny was a better overall package than McGrady. Of course, we're talking "prime years" here.

    Just my $0.02...

Whoever says he cant, is plain stupid. Kobe could do it easily he is a much better player taking it to the basket is much more consistent and could find Yao open alot easier.

    BAH *spits*

We ARE going to win... and Kobe can watch on TV... and don't expect him to pass you any popcorn either.

again, u really would think kobe would look for yao after all these turnovers yao usually has. u seriously think so?

think about it. u really think yao would be anywhere near as dominant as he is now playing with kobe 2 yrs ago rather than tmac?

and again, didn't kobe BLOW A 3-1 LEAD A YEAR AGO?

i'm sorry but i think he did.

and please, don't compare yao to shaq. they're like 9-10 levels apart in terms of dominance.

people say we could win w/ shaq, hell if tmac had that prime shaq right now, okur and milsap would be in the hospital begging to go home rather than play shaq.

the problem is not tmac. but it's yao. when has a team focus its defense on stopping a perimeter player when there is a pretty good inside player? thats just ridiculous.

My honest opinion is that Yao would not have become the player he is with Kobe. Kobe would have stunted his growth by not allowing him the opportunity to score, etc. Yao would probably still be the player he was in his 2nd year. Good, but nowhere near the best center in the league. Say what you want about his play in this series, Yao is the best center in the league and it has a lot to do with McGrady deferring to him when he's hot and allowing his growth. You could even say that McGrady's injury issues have allowed Yao further growth by forcing him to be the lone offensive weapon.

Kobe is a great player, if not one of the best ever. He is not a great teammate. I truly believe he would have been responsible for holding Yao back to get his 30 ppg. So, to answer the question, no, I don't believe this team would be better off with Kobe.

I think this is only true at the center position.

EXACTLY. look at an ego as HUGE as shaq and still it couldn't stop kobe from wanting to be THE GUY. this is the center who literlaly everyone called the most dominant force in the L, from players to media to their mamas.

and u want kobe to be paired with yao, who's humble, nice, and willing to defer?

so after yao gets stripped by okur, blocked by ak47, turns it over, U REALLY THINK KOBE WOULD PASS TO HIM EVER AGAIN for a long stretch?

odom was on fire yesterday and kobe still jacked up more shots.

kobe is individually a better offensive player than tmac. i won't even argue that. but tmac's willignness to defer to yao in stretches gives yao confidence to make mistakes sometimes. tmac doesn't stare him down or things like that. tmac goes back to him on the next play too.

if u want kobe on this team, i think u don't want yao on this team, but rather a guy like KG. KG's ego can accept kobe's ego. i think yao would wilt in kobe's presence. look at odom, kwame, walton's egos.

let's compare teammates of kobe v. tmac during yao's injruies where houston went 21-10

and i would say this - odom would be an all-star playing next to tmac. that's all u need to know.

tmac would not let games go by where odom takes 5-6 shots. while kobe would.

To add to this, Jordan scored at a ridiculously higher rate at a ridiculously higher field goal percentage for longer.

    Jordan
    PPG: 30.1
    FG%: 49.7

    Kobe
    PPG: 24.6
    FG%: 45.3

u were, but some on here are so quick to criticize tmac b/c he doesn't score like crazy like kobe (by not understanding every play is run for kobe to score score score => easier to get in a rhythm)

notice how tmac shot 47% himself when yao wasn't here and every play was ran for him to score score score

No way, as long as the Rockets is coached by JVG. The Rockets would be 9th seed, behind the Clippers after 82 games.
