Darkest day in the history of the Rockets and my life when Karl Malone signs here. I think I'd try to kill him before he puts on our uniform, that f***ing @**hole cheater.

He would add some things to this team. But I would not want to give anything up, except Moochie, to get him. He is not a long term solution and that is what we need.
If Karl Malone were younger, then maybe. MAYBE. But there is a lot of animosity on this team toward the Spazzholes. And we want a PF who can grow with the team. Karl and Steve don't get along anyway, or, at least, have clashed in the past. He won't come to New Jack City. He'll go to Dallas before he comes to the Rox.

Another scorer My desire for winning supersedes any personal animosity I may have for an individual player or asst. coach. Anyone that calls Karl Malone an embarrassment probably can't even spell the word!
If that b*stard cheater even comes close to signing with the Rockets then I'm through. I'll officially become a Spurs or Mavs fan. Or even worse..... I would rather become a freaking Cowboys fan than cheer for the Rockets with Malone.

No way Malone comes here, and why exactly do we want him? He's gonna retire in a coupla years and by then the Rox will be making their championship run. You can't possibly think that adding Malone would automatically make us championship favs anyways? Screw Malone...
Malone isn't the top PF ever, that's Kevin McHale. Malone's stats are padded by all the phantom fouls the refs give him to he can catch Abdul-Jabbar. Today, he's over the hill and only of value to Utah, who wants to keep him for the fans, and LA (or another title contender) who feel they're just a thug short of getting to the top. The bit about Malone going to LA for chump change if they sign Payton was absurd. Milwaukee traded Cassell away for one reason: to give them a better shot at Payton. They'll go full-court and offer him more money than anyone else can, and Payton will probably take it. Is Karla so desperate for a ring that he's taken to public humiliation? Please, Mr. O'Neal, sir, would you carry me to a title? Gosh, Mr. Bryant, you're looking swell today. I'll see if I can get Mr. Payton to come help you pick me up." If it were anyone else, they's get slapped with a big fine for tampering. But the NBA has its lips super glued to Malone's but-tocks so nothing will come of it. Personally, if Malone signs with the Rockets, I hope someone gives the GPS coordinates of the new arena to al-Queda..... (Why I hate karl malone so much -- sorry, this page needs a lot of work.)
Malone can't do it and even if he could, I don't want it! I don't know if he can bring anything that Rice hadn't. I do know he will bring the cheating, the flop and the whining. There is no longer anything powerful in Malone's game. He relies a lot on 18 ft jump shot these days. Malone played 36 mins, avg. 7.8 rebs, .38 blocks, 20.6 pts. Those are not numbers of a true power forward. 0.38 blocks ranked him below Francis, Cat, Yao, EG, Cato and barely better than MoT and T Morris (who played 13 mins/ game). It's not like he played with dominant low post players that took away his numbers either. His teammates are guys like Harpring, Kirilenko and Ostertag. Malone never played defense either, especially help out defense. His muscle is used to flop, to swing his arms, kick his legs to get fouls called in his favor. He could score but without Stockton spoon-feeding him, his number will drop. He will get open looks with double-teams on Yao or Francis but we can get dozen other guys for the job. It's nothing personal. Even if Carla can hand me a championship trophy every year by himself, I still don't want it. I don't want to win by cheating and playing dirty.
Hottoddie, I think some of the prior posts have gone to the extreme, and the board as a whole, I'm sure, respects the thought you have put into proposed trades and signings. However, as you can see, signing Malone would be divisive to say the least. I'll get flamed for saying this, but Mo Taylor --now in his prime -- will be just as effective as an over-the-hill Karl Malone. One last thing, I can't think of a single great player that became great playing "alone." Malone needed Stockton; McHale needed Bird and Dennis Johnson and Parish; Jordan needed Pippin; Hakeem needed Otis Thorpe and Clyde Drexler; etc. etc. Like it not, Malone will be remembered as the No. 1 power forward ever to play the game.
