Could it be that we're just not that great and last year = fool's gold?

Lol, but honestly it's nothing new for houston sports, or even the Houston Rockets Franchise... The last time this team was consistent it was only because Hakeem was still playing. I'm not not saying Yao/Mac or H&H were/are bad, but it's like they haven't reached that peak yet, and unfortunately Yao didn't get to due to injury, the good news is as long as Harden is a rocket he can take the team as far as he wants to go, just have to get him more experience and hopefully in games that matter he doesn't disappear/have a bad game.

I personally think he'll be a lot better this year, especially since he won't have to run the offense for ~48 mins a night for the Rockets to get a win. I think in about a month or 2 the team will be in a lot better spot, it would have been nice not to play the Warriors on the 2nd game though.

Despite the point differential being low, Houston overacheived in number of wins it would be expected to win last season mostly because of a VERY clutch James Harden. We won so many tossup games because of him

We were like 19-5 before we got Smith.

The Rockets are clearly underprepared this season and rested too many guys unnecessarily in the preseason.

We're better this year - just takes time. 2 games is not enough.

Can we let Harden and Lawson play 15 games together first?

SMH, we were literally a couple of plays away from being up 2-0 on Golden State in Golden State. Without Beverley. Without D-Mo.

I think you answered your own question. We can be down, but it doesn't even begin to mean that we're out.

I think he meant the playoffs. Without Smith, we would have been eliminated much earlier.

The team has quite a few things to work out.

    - Replacing the starting PG is always going to mess up chemistry. This is doubly so when the new PG plays a completely different style than the previous starting PG.

    - No matter what he may say, Harden's got a lot of potential distractions outside of the court. The whole Odom situation, as well as probably the responsibilities of the new humongous sneaker contract, won't help his focus.

    - Howard resting most of the preseason, Jones dealing with little injuries, and DMo still unavailable haven't left McHale much to work with in the frontcourt. Harrell could get his opportunities and make the best of them, but I doubt the Rockets planned to be relying on Capela and Harrell for major big-man minutes this early on.

    - A rusty and depleted frontcourt with a starting backcourt that is not known for defense is going to lead to serious defensive issues.

Whew. McHale's got his work cut out for him.

I think it has more to do with the rox having continuity/rhythm issues right now bc the roster is always changing due to injuries and or losing/gaining players.

I think once they can figure out how to incorporate T. Law, get DMO back and get more practice time we will be fine

It's kind of like an engine with a bad spark plug- it sounds/feels like the engine is shot- but new plugs/wires and she runs like brand new.

Practice time with all players back will be our "plugs/wires"

On top of that, GSW are shaping up to being a team that we cannot beat unless every rox player is present and playing near perfect basketball.

2 games are enough for the Warriors. And if the Rockets are gonna realistically take a shot at the title, they have to be at the Warriors' level.

Many on here already have l. Haven't you heard? GSW Is the cChamps again and we didn't even make the playoffs. Harden is also the worst player in the league.
