to the OP, i think you got the right idea, but i think your example is too good to be true. I think you'd need to throw in brooks somewhere to end up with 2 stars next to yao. In a 3 way with tor and phill he'd prob end up going to philly, they need a young point desperately, tor doesnt. I think Lowry has shown he can handle the starting job and i also think morey realizes it's possible to win now without a start PG. for a few years it seemed like CP and deron were gonna take over, along with nash and TP and make a star PG a necessity, but the lakers continue to show a solid PG is just fine, as long as you got talent elsewhere.
Rasho and O'Bryant get about 14 minutes a game between them and neither are making any meaningful contributions. I would say that they could definitely use the depth. Bargnani, Scola and Dalembert would be a pretty decent rotation at PF/C. I think you hinted to the real key though, would Toronto value his contributions enough to take on his salary for a year?
I think Toronto would want Landry instead as well, the whole point of trading Bosh is to avoid losing him for nothing and Scola is a free agent, Landry is also younger and has higher potential.
I don't think Morey would add him. If he did he would definitely want one of the point guards from either Philly or Toronto as both are sitting good in that department. Toronto with Jack and Calderon, Philly has Lue Williams and Jrue Holliday.
they might trade igoudala if the right trade comes along but they certainly won't just give him away. also, i doubt that the rumors are based off of what philly wants to do. it's more like morey has let them know what he would like to do. and it's the same situation with bosh and toronto. it's pretty obvious that morey needs to get an elite player for mcgrady or the way they've decided to go with the mcgrady situation was a huge mistake. it's also pretty obvious that guys like bosh, igoudala or maybe butler or martin are the kind of players morey is looking out for. but it's pretty clear by now, though, that no team has any interest in just mcgrady's contract. at least for now. they all want some of the rockets' cheap talent to even consider a deal.
I modified the OP's trade a bit: http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=yjkskex Brooks/Calderon Iggy/Wafer Ariza/Budinger Bosh/Landry Hayes/Anderson/(Yao) Very low chance of happening though, but it would be an awesome team.
OMG.. If this trade went down (or something similar) I don't even know what I'd do. Maybe I should stop dreaming.
could someone please enlighten me of the ramifications cap wise now and future if we make the following trades: bosh and o bryant for landry, ariza, auzzie, and cook mcgrady, 1st round pick iggy and dalembert to make our lineup hayes/dalembert/obryant *yao* bosh/scola battier/budinger iggy/von wafer?/taylor brooks/lowry if we can insert yao next year without losing any of the core, that team would be on the short list of true contenders
Where is Von Wafer coming from? Everyone assuming we are going to sign him? Someone already asked about his checkup/physical and "he"(can we even confirm that is his account?) said he dont think Houston wants him or something to that effect.
Why would Toronto want Dalembert over Bosh? They have options of either resigning him or letting him expire and signing someone else.
I seriously doubt we could do this trade with Scola. I'm pretty sure we would have to give up Landry and/or our No. 1 pick either this year or next year (both to Toronto). On the secondary trade to give up Battier I think would be a mistake, and we would certainly have to take back a player or two so I'm not sure how much that would really save the team on the Luxury tax with that. I would think we would be more likely to give up Taylor, because we really would not have PT for another swingman with AI, Battier, Budd, Von, Lowry, & Brooks. But if we had to give up Landry, signing Scola will be put us close to the $75 million range after these moves. I could see Les paying the tax though at that price. Because a winning team, that could be a contender like that roster would mint him money in the long run. Honestly, if the Rockets could get to the WCF or even Finals with a healthy Yao, don't you think Les will be minting money? It is a risk though, and would probably depend a little bit on how the overall economy is looking come this Summer. The idea I think works though. Philly really wants to get out of those contracts, and start over. I've also been saying for awhile that Bargnani's true position is PF [like Dirk], and more than a starting PF [Scola/Landry], they need a true big man starting Center like Dalambert. Giving them that would help their defense and make Bargnani better.
I'd rather give up Battier than Ariza. Trevor is younger and could fill the role of the 'defensive stopper' as the years go by.
The Rockets need to give their best offer for a shot at Bosh. They're not trading him for a bunch of 30 year old players.
Aaron Brooks, Carl Landry, and Chase Budinger -- the next big three!! Go Rockets!!! Don't trade any of these guys for Bosh. Don't trade Luis Scola or Kyle Lowry either. Go Rockets!!!
