Source is David pingalore who seems to be a laughing stock for his fake breaking news. His full story on this is that Lebron met with the heat owner and stormed out of a restaurant when asked to take a paycut last night. He also reported that Dwight was signing an extension with the magic before he was traded to the lakers and that the magic were about to hire mike budmenholzer or mo cheeks before they hired Vaughn.
Why does Carmelo have to do this? He can just opt out and go join James and Irving in Cleveland and let Cleveland still hold onto the number one pick. Sure he is leaving that extra year on the table but Dwight did the same thing when he came to Houston. That would give Cleveland a big 3 and add in whoever they draft number one I am sure that would put them right back in the finals in the weak eastern conference with a much better team then what he had in Miami.
It doesn't work for Lebron because Kyrie is outrageously overrated and Melo is pretty overrated himself. That team will be worse than the current Miami big 3 squad. If Lebron thought Wade and Bosh did a bad job defending this finals (which they did) wait until Kyrie and Melo are his teammates lol
I can guarantee you he hasn't ruled it out. San Antonio 1, Lebron 1. Duncan has never won 2 consecutive rings. If he wants to come to Houston, it's an instant over the top Texas rivalry for at least a year. I know he regrets the TV Special going to Miami. He was a young, arrogant kid with a passion to win. The Insta3Some was bad for the NBA. Harden, Howard, and Dwight wouldn't be a conspiracy. We know he's friends with Harden, Dwight seems like the perfect teammate and friend for to be with for 3 years trying to reach Jordan status. Parson's can't hurt either. He's going to be judged wherever he plays, so it's really about picking the team he can have the most fun with. Maybe I am a little biased, but I think personality matches are higher up the list in Houston than most teams. We could have, probably should have had higher lottery picks after we lost Yao, but playing .500 ball with no stars is a good sign of chemistry. Even after Asik finished with his pouting, it was great watching Dwight being his #1 fan. Had he just sucked it up and played 15 more games, I know San Antonio would've been playing Duncan and Manu a little more for that one seed. Even Omri always had a legitimate smile with pictures Parson's posted. And you know the prospect of throwing alley oops to Howard is enticing. Reuniting with Cleveland I think we be a little too awkward and damn if he lost again there. Can't say I'd blame him for joining Melo in New York though. Chicago is promising. I talked myself into it. Avoid the cold of Chicago. The over-analyzation of the NY media (and the Pacers). Play in a tougher conference for the team the media thinks he'd play for least.
Woj: Will LeBron give serious consideration to leaving Miami? Until he sits down with Riley, hears Riley out, until he sits down with teammates, I won't sit here and presume to know what he's going to do. I don't think there's an attractive destination right now. Cleveland doesn't make sense. Houston from a talent standpoint does. I think these guys opt back in for one more year. Let Riley re-tool. Next year, there's big market teams. New York, Lakers and so they can look at it next year. My sense is they probably stay but it's not set in stone. It's all fluid. I don't think LeBron has gone through the process to know himself. The rest of us are guessing.

LeBron is a player who demands excellence and effort from his teammates. If he were to come play for the Rockets, I have no doubt in my mind Harden will put forth 1000% more effort defensively. LeBron wouldn't have it any other way (I think Wade's lack of effort this year really pissed him off).
Miami's solution: DWade - 1 year minimum salary. followed by 2 years at the max and a 3rd year partially guaranteed.

Cavs will be at only 32 millions if they dont extend Varejao, Gee and Hopson. Does anyone have an idea what the tax line is gonna be? Of course they dont have enough to sign them both to max deals but, LeBron could take the "hometown" discount
Why would he go back to Cleveland if he wants to win? He's going to have to wait for the young players to develop and all. Why not just ride it out with the Heat if you're willing to wait?
Ya my thoughts too. Unless he and Melo are hell bent on playing together. Poster just wanted to know about the financial situation.
Im pretty sure the point isn't that the Rockets are the only team that could clear sufficient cap space to sign LeBron and'or Melo, its that the team the Rockets have that LeBron would be joining is as talented if not more so than any other Lebron could choose, being that the Rockets have players they were already planning to part ways with without having to disturb the core or move any of their stars. All the teams you listed would have to trade or basically give away one or more of their best players in order to be able to afford Lebron. The Rockets have arguably the best situation and most talent that LeBron and or melo could add themselves too.
Don't underestimate what a friendship with Yao could bring. He worked his ass off for us and ....his foot. We'll never know. He'll always love the city. We'll always love Yao. What's the next best thing he could do from a sports perspective but getting a ring. Or 2, 3, 4 to Houston. 22 wins. Nearly taking out the Lakers in the only second round Houston has seen Olajuwon was playing. I bet someone nicknamed the King could be enticed with the key to being as close to a real King LeBron could ever get. Miami was a failure. Wade's knees won't ever be the same. He was robbed twice by Texas teams. Wouldn't it be nice to watch him get to 6 in Rocket Red? Howard Harden Parsons Beverley James. And a true leader. 4 MVPs. Maybe he can get Howard to dominate like Shaq thinks he can. Like we all think he can. Doesn't matter who handles the ball. Both Harden and James love to pass. We're already a fast paced, exciting team. He's coming here. No doubt. The team everyone loves to hate. Bring back AB, Scola, Landry, Hayes, Battier. Those teams were tight knit. McGrady out Yao out. What's money when you have
