For being a top 20 scorer in the league, Mobley sure does take a lot of flack from ya'll. On a second note, my God, Yao can play ball with the top competition. The man is only 21 years old as well. There is no telling where his potential stops. I'd bet a cool million that we make the playoffs this year. To bad I'm not that rich. I'll have to settle for 20 bucks or so.

didn't cato have a 9,9,2 year? Mobley will make the all star team if we have a winning record. Well at least he should if he puts up numbers like he did last year.

Huh? So, because you think he can't meet the expectatios that some people give him of being God's gift to the SG postion, you consider him a non-starter? I don't understand why you are using how fans rate Mobley to determine his worth as an NBA player. Fact is, he's one of the most talented offensive scorers in the league. You think you could find a better shooting guard to replace him? Good luck with that, but I don't think Tracy McGrady and Kobe Bryant are on the trading block right now. Sure, I'd like to have one of those guys over Mobley...I'd also like to have Tim Duncan and Kevin Garnett, but that's just not going to happen.

Cato DID put up numbers better than that during one game...That's how he got a $42 million contract! :p

Refman You need to watch more Rox Games! Mobley is an important part of our game, he just needs to be less selfish, now that he has so many scorers on the team!

Why all the hate for Cat huh? This guy has busted it from day one he is a gym rat and so far has started every season improved from the last. Do you remember how skinny he was when he came in to the league with Dickerson, by far he looked like the worse of the 2 then but now he is a premiere scorer. Why do some choose to hate him, at the least he is a starter hell we all know who should have been sixth man of the year a couple of years ago. Let him get his dues he hasn't messed up at all and has done nothing but improve.

    Amen.

We don't need a whole team of all-stars to win a championship. So far we have only have 2, (Francis, Rice) and 3 more potentials ( Mobley, Griffin, Yao). I can't wait to see this guy Nachbar play, if he has any game at all I am going to look for God to show up at the Compac Center and start putting the ball int the hoop for us.

In terms of post season awards he almost won 6th man of the year a few years ago. I agree that his isn't as good as the hype but Cat is in the upper echelon of 2's in the league. Check out his numbers against a few.

    Cat

    PPG 21.7
    RPG 4.1
    APG 2.5
    SPG 1.47

    FT% .850
    3P% .395
    MPG 42.1

    Michael Finley

    PPG 20.6
    RPG 5.2
    APG 3.3
    SPG .94
    BPG .36
    FG% .463
    FT% .837
    3P% .339
    MPG 39.9

    Doug Christie

    PPG 12.0
    RPG 4.6
    APG 4.2
    SPG 1.98
    BPG .31
    FG% .460
    FT% .851
    3P% .352
    MPG 34.5

    Vince Carter

    PPG 24.7

Did I see Doug Christie in there? Doug Christie??? Dude's a chump and let me tell you something...Nick Anderson plays big games with more poise than Christie. His airballs against the Lakers in the Finals (i'm aware it was the WCF but it was still the NBA Finals if you ask me) were downright embarrasing and hard to watch. Throw some Ray Allen or Tracy McGrady in there or even Reggie Miller, but Doug Christie? Ack.

    Yao will make Cat better.

Cat has improved every season...and will continue to improve.

Cat is already a 20 pt/gm player. Talent is hard to get...he has it.

Bad decision making is something that can be corrected.

Is cat perfect? No. But you'd be hard pressed to pull of an acquisition to improve. Get off his jock and support your team.

The Rocks are young and exciting. ...the team to watch in the division if not the whole league as they'll likely be Most Improved this season. I can't wait, we are stacked!

Some have said we'll never win a ring with Cat. If that turns out to be true, blame the coach for not utilizing his talent correctly. I have faith in Rudy in maximizing talent as displayed by turning Kenny Smith into a two-time champion. It just takes time.

Refman.. after seeing these stats you can seriously say he is overrated? Wink and Cat, and maybe KT were the only guys that could generate any offense last year. So what if he took ill-advised shots! He now knows what works and what doesn't work.

I would say a player is overrated if he makes an all-star team and receives recognition that he DID NOT deserve. But seriously, he hasn't made an all-star team(you can't rule out that he never will) and he is never ranked high by writers(outside of houston) at the SG position. This is a rockets website so ofcourse we give him some props and maybe more than he deserves. However, he has been shafted time and again by NBA fans and the league.

So your entire argument is irrelevant. Until he actually receives recognition by all NBA fans and/or the league, then you can call him OVERRATED. I have no problem with you calling him average or a quality player, but you will get flamed by many fans here if you consistantly pop off statements like that.

Just like everybody else on this thread has said, Cat is one of the better SG's in the League. What else do you expect from the guy??? He was drafted late in the second round and has blossomed in to a 20ppg scorer. What more could you ask for? I know he's not perfect but he's a DAMN good player. Who else would you rather have at Sg??? Just something to think about.

And he's not afraid to step up and take shots in the clutch. We saw that in his first NBA game.
