I think we could use Mo's scoring. Eventhough his shooting has been off, I think its coming around. He was one of our most consistent scorers last year. I mean if we can trade him for someone who can help us then I say do it, but just for clearing cap space? I'm not ready to pack it in this season just yet.
I would dump JHow and keep MoT. They are similar players and Mo occaisonally has fits of uncontrollable offense. I've never seen that from JHow. Plus MoT draws offensive fouls better than anybody. He's also younger meaning he'll keep his trade value better than JHow after a couple years. But if we can dump either MoT or JHow for any NJ scrub, that works for me. I think giving either one more consistent PT will help their game. Then that leaves us a roster spot and/or cash to pursue a legit 4 at some point.
Taylor isn't playing or acting like he wants to be here. He hasn't been effective like he was last year. He just looks flat out terrible so unless something is going to change, keeping a seemingly progressing Howard makes more sense.
mo would fit in well in NJ. he may only be capable of 5 rebounds a game in the west, but in the east on a team like the nets who have no other player stealing a rebound mid-catch from him he can grab 7 a game easy. we would get a TE and have 2 free roster spots. we could make a nice package for a PF using the TE and our pick...or use those assets to talk a team into taking JHo off our hands while getting a little something in return.
Exactly! I'd be happy either way but I'd lean towards keeping Mo. Yea, he hasn't played well but with consistent PT, I'd hope that his game comes around.
I actually like Mo as a player and he seems to be friends with Yao and Tmac. And he's like the only guy left from our old teams.. And why is this thread so long I read all of it just in case there was anything lol. What would we get from NJ? Scalabrine...isn't that great
Yeah, well... problem is, the Nets likely wouldn't want Howard either, for precisely the same reasons. There has never ever EVER been a team in more dire need of a little offense in the frontcourt. The Nets' frontcourt offense inspires more pity in me than *damn sensitive people*. Seriously. I have every confidence that MoT to the Nets is at least being discussed. It's a match made in heaven. Howard though? I kinda doubt that, but we'll see.
So this guy has a source that says Houston and NJ are in serious discussions. Don't see the harm in that, though it's not much to go on. But any news is welcome news imo, and unless the guy is flat out lying, which I don't particularly see any reason for, this thread is way better than the rich-argh one. But nice to see the bbs nazis are out in full force.
I would assume that NJ is talking to Kidd, to see if he plans on demanding a trade, and perhaps that could be a part of the deal, (if there is one), but I seriously doubt it. I'd think that they'd want to get a PF, so their team is competitive, and keep Kidd. I don't think they'd want to let go of Kidd, Jefferson, Carter or Collins, so I'd bet that if there IS a trade brewing, its for their TE and draft picks, or its a three-way deal. A couple months ago, there was a Fox article which rated Mo as the second most underrated player in the NBA. He has more value than some on this BBS think. Here's what Charlie Rosen had to say: 2. Maurice Taylor, Rockets This guy is a scorer deluxe. He's best on the left block where he'll turn his left shoulder for a deadly jump hook, and turn right for either a bull's-eye jumper or a power-house drop step. He's also an excellent perimeter shooter off screen-roll action, and his jumper is virtually indefensible because of his long-armed release. Taylor can also square up and go right or left, spin either way, and cross over left to right. If his defense was slightly quicker, and he didn't play with a squad full of superstars, Maurice Taylor would be a definite All-Star and a legitimate contender for the NBA scoring title. I agree that he hasn't been playing well as of late, but I think that's because he knows he's being shopped. He always does that, and then we give up, and he improves again. Cato used to do the same thing. I like having Mo on our team as a backup PF, with Howard starting. I do agree that they are very similar players, and too expensive, but Mo brings a lot of scoring off the bench, which is valuable, especially in the early part of the game. I think they started him so they could showcase him, but that hasn't worked. But, if NJ offers us a first round draft pick and the TE, we should probably take it, if for no other reason, so we have more trading chits.. I don't want any of their filler, and I don't think we should be desperate to trade Mo. He and Howard are our only tradable assets we have left, so I hope we are judicious and obtain some more building blocks for the future, to build a team around TMac and Yao.
hey - a lot of us think its true as well (we all read the article posted earlier) we just want a little more to go on - since this thread has nothing more than that article did. bottom line, NJ could use Mo - they need a front court player - and while his contract is huge, its not as long as Howard (and he is 4 years younger... and a better offensive weapon when he gets touches)
Am I the only one who believes that Howard is tradable, and Mo isn't? Swap their contracts and the tradable one is Mo, the untradable one is Ho.
