Did you purposely miss the entire point of his post?

Yes, they did and it's great.(They had the record for women's basketball at 70) I think you're misunderstanding my point. Any winning streak is admirable but it should stand on it's own without mention of a men's basketball team. I think it takes way from the accomplishment from those girls.

But we both know the comparisons are done for arguments sake.

Back when in my first couple years at OU, the women's basketball team was pretty good (ranked very highly, routinely in the top 5) and made the final four a couple times and eventually the Natl Championship. They used to run scrimmages in the gym against a bunch of us random bball playing guys at their gym all the time in order to stay sharp (I think all women's teams probably practice against men alot). We had no coach or practice or anything like that, just five random guys hooping.

We use to absolutely wipe the floor with them. Didn't matter if Stacy Dales was in out the or any other top players. Their quickness and upper body strength disadvantages would absolutely kill them on the boards and just inside the paint in general. They could drop threes and cross guys up all day (broke more than a few ankles), but none of that mattered when they were only getting 1/4 of available rebounds and no layups. lol, we'd run through all but the biggest girl's picks like they weren't even there. Good times.

No, I did not. But I don't think you got my post before that. Winning 89 straight times in ANYTHING is damn impressive whether it is by an individual, a group of women or even freaking turtles. That's all I am saying.

I'm not arguing with you - I pretty much am agreeing with across as I think it is unfortunate that you are going to have people who feel the need to compare it to a men's team. It is not an apples to apples comparison here but like you said that isn't gonna stop people from making them.

When I was in 10th grade our high school had one of the top 3 women’s high school basketball players in the state of Texas. She played pickup ball with my friends and I a few times and she was consistently one of the worst players (but not the worst) and none of us were even good enough to make varsity at the time.

There is no doubt in my mind that there is a group of men on this BBS that would absolutely demolish any group of women in basketball in a pickup game. The women might have a shot in a regulated, college rules game but even then the men would adjust after a few games and dominate.

At the end of the day, the women’s (possible) edge in skill and chemistry would get crushed by the sheer difference in athleticism and strength of the men.

When I was in my mid-20's and playing ball all the time there is no way a woman could stop me on the court. So if we took our best b-ball playing members with guidance and training from a good coach I don't think there is any way a female team could beat them.
