Could a bunch of Clutchfans members beat the UCONN Women?

My only claim to fame is that I blocked a McDonald's girls All American player. She was on the first girls team.

 

yes easily, any decent varsity boys team from a big high school could beat the UCONN women.


And i bet there are some ppl on clutchfasn that are better than just varsity high school ballers

Not so sure. They'd press and create a lot of turnovers and they're probably in way better shape. They'd run their offense and get open shots. They're faster than you think they are. It'd be like playing a bunch of girl versions of Shane and Chuck, but they can also shoot.

Not to mention the fact that I bet every one of them plays against guys in practice and during the off-season, so I think it unlikely they would be intimidated by a bunch of guys.

(I base this on the fact that my daughter plays 7th grade AAU ball and works out with the high school girls a lot. Some of the HS gals are really fast and tough as nails... they play against boys every chance they get. I'm guessing UConn women would be doing the same things only more so.)

 

They are actually slower than you think they are. Olympic women sprinters often don't break 11 seconds in the 100 meters and there are some 7th and 8th grade boys out there that can run those times.

 

There are almost 50,000 members now. Surely 5 of us were good high school players within the last 25 years.

 

Cant no lady beat me in basketball. This isnt cooking.

I also know that I should not be part of the team because I'm in horrible shape and I wasn't that good even when I played a lot.

 

A couple of years ago I was in Notre Dame's athletic center looking for a pickup game. The women's basketball team came in and wanted to scrimmage against some menfolk. Me and 4 other dudes (I was clearly the only one who had played high school ball) were up pretty big on them, and then they came back by hitting a bunch of 3's. The ND team is no UCONN, but if me and 4 random dudes who have not played high school ball can lose by only 1 (I think we were even going against their starters), I think 5 best Clutchfans could easily take the UConn team. When it comes down to speed and strength, there's just no comparison.

 

I'm almost positive that UConn's scout team of guys that they play in practice every day is better than any team we could put together with members of the board, unless Ron Artest and Bob Sura (doesn't he have an account) will play with them.

 

Even if that's true, do they usually beat their scout team?

 

If it is just a gym game where you call your own fouls, play to 21, there are no charges, there is no clock and no real strategy probably so. If it is a refereed game with a clock played by the rules I doubt it.

Even without superior strength, size and speed better fundamentals, teamwork, knowledge of the rules and strategy would play in the UConn's women favor.

One more thing is an intangible cultural factor. Us as men are less likely to play very tough D on the women and being the competitors that they are the UConn women would likely exploit that. Also if there is a crowd it will likely be very much for the women.
