I never mentioned anything about your academics. But...since ... ur saying that UH people are stupid. Aite. Im callin all y'all out. Let's drop an IQ test. And see how u fare. Lets go all the fools who were talkin trash about academics. Lets GO. Let me bust one on your head. Wow, I was going to stay out of this, but this is sad. You want some kind of test of "smarts", but let's look at this simple paragraph: (1) "ur" is not a word. (2) "Aite." is neither a word nor a sentence. (3) "Im" has an apostrophe in it. (4) "callin" has a "g" on it. (5) "And see how u fare" is not a sentence, and "u" is not a word. (6) "Lets go all the fools" is not a valid sentence fragment. "Lets" has an apostrophe. If you're trying to start a "who's smarter" topic, you didn't represent your school's English program all that well.
I'd have to agree. My experiences with the general English classes have been pretty bad. But the creative writing is very respected, perhaps better than UT. The Honors English classes are actually good. Some of your UT alum in this thread have been pretty bad about comprehension in this thread (which is why I hadn't responded before this), but in no way do I think it's indicative of their institution. I just feel the same about UT people that flame UH the same way I do about Lakers or Jazz fans. Have to go, good luck Coogs. Try not to get beat by 30, though I have little faith.
This is the dumbest thread I have read in awhile. An an ex-UH student I can say support for UH Athletics is practically non-existent and has been for years. The academic program is average at best. I have no problem saying that they are going to get stomped by UT today.
Things like this thread exemplify why I always had trouble getting into UT football, even though I went to the school. Now I love rooting for the basketball team. Feels good to cheer the team on while all the good ole boys responsible for the great football program either don't show up, leave early, or sit on their asses the whole game because they don't care to watch bruthas hoop it up.
When Darrell Royal was being interviewed during halftime, I was like instead of asking him about the wishbone, why not ask him why he didn't have any bruthas on the team...until he saw he could use them to win.
Unfairly? Your stadium could not even provide 5000 extra seats for UT fans EVEN THOUGH THEY TRIED. Did you even think about this when posting this sentence? That right there shows the credibilty ,or lack there of, of Robertson Stadium. Stupid statement on your part.
Tenchi, is this really about the University of Texas or is this about you? I'm willing to help....really.
UH: recruited best athlete available regardless of color UT: unwritten rule to not recruit blacks Yeah, they blew it with bleachergate, but I see Tenchi's point. We had no right to demand they move their game cause it wouldn't accommodate our fans.
Yes unfairly, why should UH be obligated to provide 5,000 seats to UT? UT still got there required alotment, which is the same amount that UH got when the game was in Austin, 3,000. Just read a paragraph of todays Chronicle: That says it all. You dont try to dictate to another school where a game should be played, the agreement was never the Astrodome.
Seems straight-forward enough, but there are 2 side to every story (or in other words, our newspaper can report in just as biased a fashion as the Chronicle). The Legislature did Houston a favor to try and help raise funds by mandating that UT would play UH for 3 years. Even though it meant more money to the school's football program, which it desperately needed, UH did not want to move to Rice stadium because of the potential onslaught of Texas fans. In either an meager attempt to appease UT or to raise some extra money, UH sold 2000 bleacher tickets to UT fans. UT fans made travel and hotel arrangements to travel to Houston. Then, it was determined that the seats offered were not safe, so UH offered no alternative and simply cancelled the plans of 2000 customers that they had made a committment to. That's not good business. But it's not just those 2000 customers who were angry. It's the tens-of-thousands of other UT Alumni also. Can't happen again for a while, though; UT has a contract with Rice for the next 6 years. http://www.austin360.com/aas/sports/bohls/0902/092102.html
Wow, Cohen, now I know why my friend, who recently graduated from UT with a Journalism degree, always complained about the Statesman. That article is Blinebury-esque, talk about melodramatic. If UH athletics, namely FB, can survive the last decade plus of inept leadership, non-existent recruiting, and terrible teams, it can certainly survive not playing UT. For the record, UH hasn't played A&M at all, which has as rabid a fan base in Houston as UT, and yet UH hasn't closed up shop. And they won't, either. Oh, and that 'new-fangled offense' Royal 'unveiled' (Interesting how selective memory works, huh? Houston winning 3 SWC Championships in its first 4 years in the league is 'ancient history', but UT's dominance in the '60s is 'tradition') was nothing more than the Houston Veer with a RB replacing a WR. To his credit, Royal won 3 NC's with that offense. Good luck UT. I hope ya'll finally get past OU this year.
Originally posted by Live Wow, Cohen, now I know why my friend, who recently graduated from UT with a Journalism degree, always complained about the Statesman. That article is Blinebury-esque, talk about melodramatic. Yep, pretty ridiculous. Both papers show their bias, though. Didn't UH play A&M in the SWC? I guess you mean recently? Regardless, is A&M comment really relevant? It's like a car parts vendor saying 'I know that we have been having some difficult times financially, and, well, we just lost the Ford account, but we never had GM anyway' I don't think anyone expects UH to close up shop, but it certainly doesn't help to throw away money when you're hurting financially. Apparently the modification worked. Strange how the selective memory phenomenon seems to be national affliction with Royal. It's not just UT fans who credit Royal. UH (after being invited into the the SWC by Royal), won only 1 SWC championship outright. In their first 4 years, they also were co-champions twice, then they never won another outright in the remaining 16 years of the conference, but were co-champs one more time. Good luck UT. I hope ya'll finally get past OU this year. Thanks. We've 'gotten past' OU plenty of times in my memory, so I'm certain that we will again.
Hilarious. Thread's titled "Cougars v Longhorns" and we have a sooner in here. Obsess much? Anyway, Summitt, I think a debate between two southern schools as to which integrated sooner is about as stupid as can be found on the Internet, so I'll leave you with the moral victory of knowing your racist administration decided it needed an extra edge five years earlier than our racist administration did. No, UT's dominance in the '60s is indicative of tradition, because such dominance is also evident throughout our history. There's a reason why Texas is among the ten or twelve winningest programs in college football history, and it isn't just the 1960s. We didn't accomplish much from 1984 through 1997, but based on last year and what we've seen so far this year, it looks like we're closing in on finishing where we should and traditionally have been. Good luck with that Conference USA thing. I hope you guys get a kick-ass bowl bid to Memphis or Shreveport or wherever.
"Obsess Much"? Yeah, I'm obsessed, I can't read anything that has to do with college football. Are you still bitter about losing to them "dirt-burglars" 2 years in a row, or were you like this when you won?
