That Marquette game can be hard now with Diener out for the season (although a long shot). I will not rule the cougs out yet but like someone else said even an NIT bid will be great as well.
CBS put Houston into their bracket today. Conference champ: Louisville. At-large: Charlotte, DePaul, Cincinnati, Houston. Bubble burst: Memphis, UAB, Marquette, TCU. Our final at-large bid has been bestowed on the Cougars, but they still have to earn it with a strong finish. At this point, they can't lose until at least the C-USA tourney semis, and they certainly need tough wins over Marquette and fellow bubbler UAB. http://www.sportsline.com/collegebasketball/story/8047103
Thanks for the update. I am glad the Coogs are atleast being talked about. Earlier in the season they werent even on the map and were expected to finish like 13th in C-USA. I think if we can win tonight and then on saturday that should put us in good shape. Winning 1 game in the C-USA tournament would give us a decent shot at making the NCAA tournament and if we somehow won 2 games in the C-USA tournament then i think we are a lock for the big dance. GO COOGS !!!
By the way Texas A&M has an rpi of 74 and UH has an rpi of 61 according to ESPN.com. The Aggies had a very very easy schedule before conference play started and theefore got some easy wins at the beginning of the season wheere as UH actually played some quality teams (LSU, Ohio, Missouri). If the Big 12 gets 6 teams in this year i think A&M should be the 6th but that doesnt mean they deserve a spot ahead of the Coogs.
Good news is we could probably still get in if we make a deep run in the tourney. I don't think we would have to win it all just yet.
Lanny Smith is ranked as the 23rd best sophomore in the country on nbadraft.net. I think UCONN had 3 in the top 10 (Boone,Williams, and C.V.)
Well i gues it's time to win the C-USA tournament or go to the NIT. Either way it has been a very successful year and hopefully we can build on it and make a real run at the NCAA tournament next year.
Conference USA tournament: Looks like Houston is gonna sweep right on thru. Sweet. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/champweek2005/news/story?page=cusa
And this is why you should never be too over-confident about your team winning, or sweeping through a tournament: South Florida 69, Houston 64 Good year for UofH but no dance for them this year. Time for A&M to get some wins now... -Nick-
Props to Joe Curl and the Lady Coogs for making it back to the NCAA tournament. Tom and the boyz are headed to the NIT to whip some azz. Eat 'Em Up Coogs!!
Horrible loss, but that's how it goes...anyway, the Coogs travel to Wichita State University on Wednesday, March 16. The game tips off at 7:00 p.m Go Coogs!!!
All i can say is that i am very happy that they managed to total the amount of wins they had the past 2 seasons in this one year under Penders. We have no low post presence on your team and that's where we need to improve. Penders has 2 guys coming from Florida next year both are big Forwards. One is a junior college guy and the other out of High School that have comitted to Houston. If we have that presense and our guard play stays the same we should have an even better team. We lived and died by our outside shooting and we had nothing to fall back on. Looking forward to next year.
Dont forget we also have a JC guy coming from NY (Sills). He is suppose to be a scoring machine and should help replace the offense that we lose with Owens graduating.
Yeah his name is David Sills. He supposely have handles and can break ankles. He should be fun to watch.
