Ugliest win. Trying to run out the clock with eight minutes left reminded me of that infamous NC State game and the agonizing misses at the free throw line reminded me of the Michigan game last season.
They weren’t trying to run out the clock. They got the shots they wanted but just weren’t executing. Then a bunch of offensive charge calls swung the momentum obviously
Houston needs 70% FT in the tourney or they could be done in the 2nd round. In the last 2 weeks 2 games they have shot like 50 to 55 % FT that is just not going to cut it.
The offense seems to get most confused when we run with Jarreau and Robinson at the same time. At least lately. Would like to see less of that. Davis and Brooks should be getting the ball more. For about 15 minutes we looked all world. Then it all went to hell. But they took care of business and then held on legit. Plus a road game. I'll look the other way and on we go to tomorrow. Let's do it.
Damnit whichita st almost had the upset. Oh well. Not much of a surprise. UH vs Cincy for the AAC title. 2pm tomorrow.
IMO college basketball is just as fun to watch as the NBA. We could have just as easy pulled away and won by 20 or 30. As it turned out we were fortunate to hold Memphis off and win this game. We missed way too many free throws and were sloppy and indecisive down the stretch. We lost two three pointers by Hinton due to poor execution on offense and that charge they called on Davis which was a marginal call took more points off the board. At least three times we bricked both free throws, Jarreau, and then White and Brooks down the stretch that would have make the end of the game much easier to watch. BTW, how do they determine where the tournament is played at? Why is it being played at Memphis this year? It definitely gave them an advantage. Glad we won but if I was the coach I would have plenty to talk about with my team going forward. The defensive effort was great and in the end was why we won this game.
Honestly it is more fun because of potential upsets vs Warriors winning everything, but I guess it was just brutal to watch all the missed FTs, extremely low FG%, and all the offensive rebounds. Like Memphis shot 23.5% from the field. I never really watched basketball while I was at UH so I don't really know if that is common, but jeez lol
