Clanking a lot of rims tonight. We are better than this. Need to come out with more energy and better shooting in the second half.
Definitely not another boring win. Like most of the conference games this year I suspect they are going to be close. Glad we rallied and won this one against one of the second tier teams. I would love to figure out why we keep having to dig out of hole after a slow start it seems to be a rut that we are in. But we are 16-1 so it's hard to get too upset about it.
Experienced my first game in Fertitta Center tonight. Awesome facility. Wasn’t completely full, but it was loud and passionate. Major Toyota Center vibe. Most fun UH basketball atmosphere of my lifetime (ex-cougar brass). Tilman should be very proud. The million whistles were frustrating, especially because both teams wanted to bruise. Cougar D did a better job of locking down and hitting 3s for runs. Wichita was good enough to win. Solid W.
I would like to see Gresham and Hinton get more minutes. Alley replaced in starting lineup by White makes sense as Alley can't hit the broad side of a barn. His shooting seems to be getting worse and worse. He lacks confidence or maybe pressure is getting to him. Wednesday's game at SMU is going to be possible trap game. There is not a team in our conference we can take for granted except maybe Tulane. Who would think Wichita State and UCONN would have the 2nd and 3rd worst records in our conference. We only have 14 games left in our regular season schedule so if we are going to remain relevant and get an invite to the NCAA tourney we can only afford to lose one or two of these games. I would prefer to win them all but it is not going to be easy.
I bought a while back. Strong possibility it just had the Houston thing going on where people like to wander around and just not hang out in their seats. In any case, best UH b-ball crowd I’ve ever seen.
UH games have always been a great atmosphere when fans actually showed up. The problem over the years is getting them to actually come to the games.
Potential trap game tonight against SMU. Need to lock down on defense, shoot better, stay out of foul trouble with bigs, and take care of business.
