Coogs are top-5 in 3pt%, Zags are top-15 in 3pt% defense. Gonna be a fun game. Hope Roberts is mostly healthy.
Very tough draw for the second round......but if Coogs can survive the Zags, I think they will make the Final Four.
The Cougars are more apt to grind out a win than blow out their opponents. Not because they don’t have offense, but they thrive in slowing down the game and delivering quality possession. Gonzaga has some swagger after recent success and is a very capable opponent. I think they pride themselves on their discipline, and after being ranked #6 at the beginning of the season, they likely have a lot to prove to themselves. I opine that this is perhaps the most difficult matchup amongst the top #1 seeds in the round of 32.
Horrible second round match up. Houston is absolutely the better team, but if they are off at all they could lose this one. Sampson will have them laser focused though. So far, this is probably the most anticipated game of the tournament. Should be really good.
Contingent on Roberts health and Uzan's continued high level of play... We'll wax that @$$. Gonzaga's such a chique pick.
Zags are probably the best eight seed in the tournament. I agree, they may be our biggest obstacle on our way to the final four. Who would you compare them to in the Big 12?
Gonzaga likes to run and gun we like to play with smothering defense and deliberate offense. Whoever controls the pace wins the game IMO. We need to impose our will from opening tip. Bigs need to stay out of foul trouble. Guards need to maintain their recent excellent play both in scoring and protecting the ball. Hope we get refs that let us play as opposed to calling ticky tack fouls. If all this happens we move on.
If we play our game we win this most times, unless they just get ridiculously hot shooting like Miami circa 2023. If we get sloppy and try to pace with them we lose.
If you pay any credence to the Kenpom rankings, they had the Zags at 8. In the country. https://kenpom.com/
I just looked at that. Thanks for the link. It’s going to be a fun game to watch. Of course I have to work tonight but I’m going to try and follow the game on the March Madness Live app.
