Cougar Basketball

It is pathetic the lack of respect and interest given the Cougar basketball team by Houston sports media and Houston sports fans in general. Collectively here on ClutchFans for instance people are more interested in Cooper Flagg and other nonsense. What the men's basketball team is doing is historic. In some ways even better than what was accomplished during the days of PSJ.

I still enjoy watching a Rocket or Astros game but nothing compares to watching what the Cougars are putting out on the basketball court at the moment. We may never see anything like this again by a Houston sports team. Great to be alive and watch it all unfold in real time.

 

I don't get Houston period! We have the #2 team in the NCAA, we have a good young NBA team and coverage is minimal at best.

ABC 13 haven't covered a Rocket's game in weeks. I keep saying if our Basketball teams were on the East Coast, it would be NONE STOP coverage.

 

I saw that. Young was the one that was scared. Young has no idea how deal with coaching and preparing a team to play a real defense. A head coach is a grounding point for the players, the players reflect what is inside the coach. Sampson is TOUGH, RENTLESS, and HUMBLE. Young seems arrogant, prideful, and inexperienced.

 

I hope we don't use Roberts until the NCAA 2nd round at the earliest. He'll be chomping at the bit. If we can duplicate our defensive effort we showed yesterday, we should be fine while letting him recover.

 

I watched Young in the postgame presser and he did have good things to say about our coach and team. Having the advantage of hindsight the only chance BYU had was to try to change the pace by taking first available shots and hoping they would fall. Instead they tried to be more deliberate which put them at the mercy of our defense and put them in a 15-0 hole early. No doubt CKS was the better tactician in this one.

If you can't get Houston to break away from their pace and their relentless defense the only hope a team has is that Cryer, Sharp, and Uzan will be missing their shots. Or that the refs will be calling it tight and you can get control of the game by getting us into foul trouble.

I would really like another shot at either or both Alabama or Auburn somewhere along the way during this year's tournament. I really think this team beats them both. I know both of these teams are good but I believe we are better.
