Baylor at 9pm? 10 pm DST. Who made this schedule? Also, these conference tournaments need to go. They don't make sense. Just have the national tournament.
ESPN made the schedule tonight (and yes it's ridiculous). There was no good West Coast game to put on late, so they chose this one. Conference tournaments are great, especially for the smaller conferences, don't **** with that.
No idea why our game could not start after the Duke UNC game. The UFC Fights are on both ESPN and ESPN News. 9PM start on DST eve makes for a late night for us oldsters that want to watch the entire game. In regards to conference tournament they are great if you have a marginally decent team. If you have a team that has been fortunate to have already done the work and already have a one seed awaiting them in the NCAA tournament it is more of a nuisance. But it is what it is. We will be playing the conference tournament going forward for a long time in Kansas and ISU's back yard.
...and it is as it should be. The NCAA Tourney is not just about the UH's of the world, that's what makes it so wonderful.
Worst first half all season by Houston? Give Baylor credit for great defense, but besides some sharpshooting by Cryer the offense was awful.
I was impressed with the ability of Baylor's VJ Edgecombe. Not so much his use of elbows and hands. Should have been tossed for that elbow to the face of Sharp. Instead I guess refs decided Sharp fouled him with his face. Earlier he got a slap to the face on Uzan foul upgraded. He has talent no doubt but no need for the dirty play. There are no meaningless games. As a fan it seems like last night was close to a meaningless game but thank God we have a baller for a coach. CKS coached like our season was on the line. Not our best game but was enough to cap off another regular season at 27-4 and 19-1 in Big 12 play. Hope that is the last 9 pm start time of the year. I will stay up as late as necessary but prefer a little earlier start time.
I want a #1 seed, and a selection committee to see what we did there-- kept guys healthy-- and gave us the #1 seed for our body of work even if we served up a meaningless loss on BU's senior night. But no. It's the same damn injury bug every March.
He came back in started the second half. Looked unaffected by previous what looked like a bad sprain. Hit a key 3 pointer, several key defensive plays, and drove to the basket effective on a number of occasions and in general looked good out there. Glad, hopefully, we dodged another setback on Sharp's injury. Looked very bad at the rime.[/QUOTE]
I still think these conference tournaments are a waste of time and a way to further fatigue teams before the national tournament. One team has already won the conference, why do they have to do it all over again?
Our first opponent of the Big12 Conference Tournament is still TBD but time of game is Thursday @ 2 pm on ESPN+. We will play either CU, TCU, or WVU. So for now can't let those ESPN+ subscriptions lapse yet. Assuming we continue to win we play again Friday and the championship game will be on Saturday. So that will be 3 games in 3 days for us to win the tournament. Lower seeds start play on Tuesday and face the possibility of 5 games in 5 days. Buckle up. March Madness is about to begin. We are pretty well locked in to the 3rd one seed in the NCAA tournament regardless of what happens in the Big 12 tournament next week. I think final seeding will be announced next Sunday.
Auburn and Duke are pretty much locks for 1 seeds. Gotta watch out for Alabama (Tennessee too), coming off the win @ Auburn, and if they put on a show in the SEC Tourney they could jump up into the top 3ish. UH just needs to win a game or 2.
At this point we just need to go into it healthy. Regardless of whether we get the midwest one seed or the west one seed we are going to have to play a lot of tough teams. I doubt if things will fall in line for us the way they did the last time we made a run to the final four. Two of our key pieces are a little banged up. Arceneaux is still dealing with lingering achillies issues. Sharp is still hobbling and playing through his ankle pain. Tough mofo for sure. We need both of these guys as close to 100% as possible or our road will be much more difficult. This time next week we will know for sure which bracket we are in and we can cuss and discuss the easiest path. I am confident that in his own unique way CKS will have the team ready. ETA: Just noticed all BIG 12 tournament games TU -TH will be on ESPN+. I guess they will be too busy showing SEC and Big 10 games on regular ESPN. I don't remember this being the case last year. But I have slept since then.
Heath is key, and true. Gotta remember, the 4th #1 will be in a bracket with the #2 of whoever is not a #1: ie Bama, Florida, et al
