When you look back at the game this was a game we probably should of won. The silver lining is that it occurred in November rather than in March so we have an opportunity to make adjustments and learn from it. Same issue as last year. We have no back up point guard. We have other issues to deal with but I think this is the main one. Just like last year when Shead went to the bench, when Uzan was not in the lineup against Auburn we struggled on both ends of the floor. We have two games coming up, against UL and against Hofstra to fix this and get ready for our next big challenge against Alabama on the 26th in Vegas. Hope by then Arc and Javier will be ready for more playing time. In hindsight would have liked to see Mercy Miller in the game. Maybe he would have matched the energy of their freshman that went off on us. We have a great coach but I can't help but feel that CKS got outcoached in this one.
That Pettiford kid went full Wade Taylor on us. Salute to him but disappointing to see how easy it was for him. I have no idea why they insisted on trying to back down Broome with Jwan instead of trying to get by him.
Still bummed out about this loss. Fell asleep when Cougars were ahead in the second half. I can't understand why UH can't recruit a top player nationally. We are a "system" team largely without top tier recruits. There are no Elvin Hayes' or Akeems' out there.
I just looked it up for ***** and giggles, for the past decade they're all from the DFW area. I don't understand why. Quentin Grimes and Ken Lofton JR are the most recents I've found
Heh, maybe the quick search didn't consider Katy as being part of Houston? Also, is 2016 "recent times"?
They have recruited some great ones...and have some in the pipeline. Mercy Miller was a 4 star. Jarace Walker was super highly recruited. I think part of it is that Sampson attracts a particular kind of player...if you want don't want to work your ass off, UH isn't for you. I see Drew recruit guys at Baylor that would never sign up for what Sampson has kids do to get ready to play...and they play far softer because of it.
Honestly, Joseph Tugler is one of the more recent Houston-area recruits I can think of. Nowadays the best high school talent in Texas actually comes out of the DFW area. *EDIT* : Arceneaux is probably another one.
Guy Lewis award goes to the best player in Houston Galen Robinson Quintin Grimes Ramon Walker Tramon Mark UH has gotten more of the top players in the city than most realize. Tugler was a finalist his senior year
Nobody hustles more than Sharp, he definitely leads Collegiate basketball and most definitely the NBA in floor burns
