What our players will always remember is winning the conference, being #1, and winning the conference tournaments. That's a lotta fun and that accomplishment lasts forever. It builds chemistry and buy in. So we never take it for granted. But it's time for a championship. It's our time to close the deal.
I can't even imagine. I was 13 years old in '83 and I watched "that game" live. I cried after "that shot" and I can still remember the stunned looks on Akeem and Clyde's (and Anders, Gettys, Young's and Micheax's) faces. To come full circle 41 looooong years later....to finally right that wrong...like I said....I can't even imagine.
They play Oklahoma and UCF this coming week and I hope they can get some blowout wins to get Shead off the floor. I worry he’s going to get burned out before the tournament. 30 or less minutes.
Coach goes back to Oklahoma. That's going to be an interesting story line. Not that he needs to prove anything in a regular season game at this point but I'm sure the family would love to see him walk off that court with a smile.
The day UH puts a natty on the wall will be the day many, MANY ghosts are laid to rest. I've followed the Coogs to the NCAA tournament regionals the last two years in a row because I know that time at the top is fleeting and I may never see it again after Sampson goes. It has to happen eventually. It has to.
I thought Foster could do it. Then Drexler. Then Penders. Sampson has been a godsend. He's a perfect fit for UH and UH is a perfect fit for him. UH is a destination school, not a stepping stone IMO. Let's hope the only reason he leaves is to retire after winning a natty (or 2). Then his son can take over.
I was 17 in The Pit, and to this day, that game against Louisville was the greatest college game I've ever seen live....followed by the worst Monday night...cried like a baby. Before this season started, I figured this UH team was young, but would get better as the year progressed. They've exceeded my expectations and are indeed getting stronger. Losing Arceneaux was a big hit, but those ghosts could still be vanquished this year. From next year on, though, we're going to be even tougher. Let's finish strong, exacting some revenge against KU to end the regular season. Then, roll through the brutal conference tourney. On to the tournament - With our swarming D, and everyone buying in, we can run the table. The Coogs need to shoot it at a pretty decent clip in some of these games, but it's all there for the taking. Eat em Up!!!!
Not amused when two Houston teams are playing simultaneously. Spread the wealth over two days or two hours apart.
The Lath kid is trying but he's not up to speed Francis is going to have to be that much better about staying on the floor
