Sasser has historically struggled in the tournament for us. Only 32% FG in the tournament. We need him to pick up his game in March and match Walker shot for shot.
Up and down season but NW is solid. Indy isn’t that good and extremely centered around 1 player. They won’t last long in March
I hope Purdue goes back to No. 1. I want a No. 1 seed and win it all, but rankings right now don't mean anything.
Speaking of rankings, our team is the only one that has been consistently at or near the top of the rankings all year. Others have started at the top and have fallen like a lead balloon. Others have climbed up and ordained by the talking heads only to fall back down. U of H has been in the top 4 in one or the other polls every week. The only team this year that can say that. All of the statistic metrics have us at the top. It has been a historic season. Only time will tell how long this run of excellence will last. We have a great team. Other than the Astros, the only team I look forward to watching and seriously keeping up with. We need to take care of business tonight against the ponies and Sunday against the mudcats. If we do that we will give all the biased voters something to contemplate when they decide if perhaps Purdue or somebody else is worthy of getting their first place vote. I think we have just scratched the surface of how good this team is. Exciting times ahead for sure. Must not let up or take any of the upcoming opponents for granted.
1 seed is officially on the line now. Everyone in the BIG 12 will have 10+ quad 1 wins by March. We sit at 4. This is not the time for a bad loss. We don't want to drop out and below Kansas.
Every time I see the Coogs on TV they play hard, rebound, and defend aggressively. BUT they exhibit some annoying habits. They start slow, can miss a boat load of freethrows, and they "relax" after building a big lead. As I am sure Sampson is telling them (as only he can) that these are habits that will get you an early exit from the national tournament. As talented as they are, they are still a work in progress.
We have two of our toughest games coming up Sunday against Memphis and Wed against Tulane, both at home. Time to reassert home court dominance. No reason to think we will not win both. At present we are 95% favorite to beat Memphis and 97.6% favorite to beat Tulane. We cannot afford to take either lightly. Against Memphis, Dandridge and Lomax definitely out with Davis big question mark after rolling his ankle last night. Whether he plays or not, I will feel much better about our chances going forward if we put this game in the win column.
I'll be disappointed if Kendrick doesn't play Sunday. He definitely wants to be out there for this game so we'll see
sucks for them but i expect a tough game regardless houston v memphis is the only rivalry that truly developed for us in the aac it should have been smu but nah its memphis. **** them.
Cincy was better overall in their run with Cronin and gave Houston the most problems. They actually stopped Houston from winning the conference and actually won it not once but twice. Memphis never did. Cumberland was a huge thorn for years and Cronin has a similar coaching DNA to KS Houston has owned Memphis during Penny's time. 6-3 and 2-0 in the conference tourney vs Memphis SMU was never a consistent threat to UH who had 1 lone good year last year
