Wife just bought my Final Four and Championship game tickets for my birthday! I really hope to see dem Coogs there. I told here at the end of the season we are going all the way and I wanna be there.
Lets go COOGS! Playing Saint Joseph's right now. Game is on CBSSN working stream (use an adblocker) https://allsportsdaily.co/w1-houston-saint-josephs/?sport=basketball
I just got home from Annapolis. Holy crap that building was a sauna. They had to have coaches and security staff on towel duty. Jfc. Great showing by coog fans. The St Joe's people were all assholes and super salty about the Astros lolz. Jarace is as advertised.
On the TV broadcast they said the officials wanted to call the game with about 4 minutes left and the Cougars winning by around 25 points. Ridiculous! Thankfully it didn’t happen or Sampson might have stroked out right there on the court.
A cold front is hitting the mid Atlantic tomorrow. It's mid 70s and muggy as **** right now. Tomorrow it dips into the 40s for a week. My best guess is they had winterized the building in preparation, which caused it to be a freaking swamp in there.
Having played on some courts that were similar, I don't think we can't really judge their performance accurately today. You play differently. And with less risk. Still, 2-0 baby.
Yeah. Foul trouble and doing the right things on the court. A good lesson to learn early. The good news is we had a different set of contributors tonight to steady the hand. And that bodes well because it might be an indicator that we won't have major scoring droughts this year. But a long way to go. Southern next up. What I would like to see is who is going to get whatever shot they want when things tighten up. We had a leaper last year even if he was inconsistent.
After a defensive lapse, Sampson angrily called a time out and yelled, "Get out! Get out!" directed to J. Walker and J. Roberts, and replaced them (I think) with Chaney and R. Walker. J. Walker did seem to be in Sampson's doghouse last night, plus he took a couple of fade away jumpers when I thought he could have been more aggressive taking it to the hoop against ORU's skinny 7-5 center (Vanover).
"Last year I always felt like I was coaching with one arm tied behind my back a little bit because I lived in constant fear of foul trouble and fatigue because we had no depth, and that was an issue," Sampson said. "It affected the way I coached and the way I had to manage the game. This year if you are not doing what I ask you to do, sit down. I'm not going to ask twice." Sampson is a boss.
Think Mattress Mack could get the same odds 3/4 the way through the season, but if he waited he would have been able to better gauge if the team really was all it is promised to be. Like the bet, but probably should have waited a bit longer.
