Yeah, I read Whitehead and Lively didn't play for Duke. Wanted to see how they do, since they may be lottery targets, and well... the Rockets.
You're right, Whitehead and Lively didn't play. I think the 1st half was 20 minutes and the 2nd half was 12 minutes. This may be hard to read, but this is a copy of the box score:
One more week and the road to the National Title officially begins Josh Criswell on Twitter: "Several familiar faces are back @UHCougarMBK, but a freshman trio is also slated to make an impact for the No. 3 team in the country #ForTheCity https://t.co/H00Z82pAWB" / Twitter
I am pumped for the season. Even though I graduated from HBU, my parents were long time professors at UH, and I have been following them since the 60's. I went to the Cincinnatti game in 2019 and the pumped up crowd at Fertitta reminded me of being at Hofheinz during Phi Slama Jama. Got season tickets after that, and have enjoyed their stellar, disciplined, tough nosed defensive play under Sampson. So fun to watch. Probably getting ahead of myself, but here's hoping that their last game this season is a victorious one at NRG.
Jarace Walker just turned 19 in Sept. Dude is a rock and walking battering ram. Can't wait to see his development this year under KS. Two 1st round picks on the way with him and Sasser
Insane basketball conference if this goes down... Sources: Gonzaga in talks with Big 12 about joining conference https://www.espn.com/mens-college-b...urces-gonzaga-talks-big-12-joining-conference
march madness would basically become a B12 tourney. that would be a ridiculous amount of good to great teams in the B12. It's already at the top for basketball without the Zags. The conference schedule would be must see pretty much every night.
Remember the Shead mistake at the end of the Wisconsin game. Great read from Shead. part 1 is good too
W00P the wait is over! This is the year, I feel it! Past few years I've expected Sweet 16 to Final four, lucky to get to the championship game. This year it's Final Four to Champions! Man, I've been so hyped about this season.. Here's the schedule: https://uhcougars.com/sports/mens-basketball/schedule Noteables: at Oregon Nov 20th vs Alabama Dec 10th at Virginia Dec 17th then it's mostly AAC games. We should win the conference easy! Joseph Duarte @Joseph_Duarte · 9h Houston coach Kelvin Sampson says he tells his players every day to “call your mothers.” When the players ask why he says that, Sampson said: “Because you can. Because one day you can’t.” #FortheCity @UHCougarMBK #GoCoogs @CoachSampsonUH You just have to love this guy.
Fertitta Center was about 3/4 full last night. Coogs were a little shaky on offense to start, but got better as the game went on. The defense as usual was superb, creating a lot of turnovers and points off turnovers. I like that this year's team has 3 guys that can handle the ball and make plays (Sasser, Shead, Mark), and Jarace Walker can create his own shot. This will be nice with the shot clock running down, and being able to get a decent shot. They ran an alley oop on the first play for Walker to get him going, which was there but lobbed too high. He struggled some on offense but still had 12 rebounds. We seem to be a deep team, and this season should be a lot of fun.
It looked like N.Colo had never faced a defensive team like UH. They would run their sets and where the usually got open looks there were 1 and sometimes 2 defenders waiting for them and eventually their leading scorer just had a frustrated look on his face. Coogs are deeper this year and not that it was unexpected with the injured guys returning plus the higher level recruits we signed this past year. Sharpe and Arceneaux looked great in the mins they got last night.
