Well, looks like either Memphis or SMU against Houston in the Final. Since SMU is hosting, I am guessing it is them. If it is Memphis, hopefully we will be more rested.
Last year we ran a 4 guard 1 big lineup and shredded their press, but this year we don't have the guards to play that way against them
If we do play Memphis in the final game of conference tournament we will not be well rested. It will be our third game in three days. And Ramon Walker if open, take a friggin shot. I love his defensive intensity and hustle etc but for some reason he has been unable to take it to the next level with his offense. He has to step it up if we are going to have a chance in a rematch against Memphis. He is all we have coming off the bench at guard. When their bench outscores ours 29-2 we don't have much of a chance.
He's a true freshman playing with a injured hand all year is the reason. I've already mentioned he won't be 100% healthy until next year and came back sooner than expected because of the injuries to UH.
We have a lot of achilles this year...FT shooting, attacking the press, depth, the infamous 1-3-1 zone, and a goto guy. Gonna be tough to maintain sight of who we are, but we should make it to the finale on our strengths, Elite defense, experience, off and def efficiency, and chemistry. Like our chances against American.
Last year against Memphis we played 4 guards and Gorham a lot to combat their press. We don't have the guards to do it this year and we have no margin for error when it comes to foul trouble in the backcourt. If Shead gets in foul trouble we are in deep **** in any game.
I know they’re not that good this year, but beating Cincinnati three times in one season is still impressive to me.
I think they are a lot better than we thought they would be after losing Mark and Sasser. Imagine how good they would be if Walker and Chaney were not trying to play with hand injuries and if Edwards could rediscover his outside shot.
I meant Cincinnati is not that good, but beating them three times in one season is still an impressive feat.
Getting past Memphis or SMU is going to be tough. We don't match up well against Memphis and SMU is virtually playing at home. Also, I once thought we would be a tough out in NCAA Tournament, but now I am not too sure. Teams can hit hot streaks. Maybe the Coogs will turn it on. I am not as confident as I was last year. They are pretty beat up. However, Sampson is very clever.
as fun as ******** on memphis has been, credit to penny and his team for being able to put it all together when it looked like they were not even going to make the nit. hoping for a big favor from smu
Up by 21, but the officiating has been consistently terrible in conference games this season. Hope the Big 12 has better refs.
