Yeah he is. Best decision for him. The entire UH staff is on his side

Grimes will get drafted, but I doubt he lasts very long in the NBA. He might not even make out of his first year. He's missing everything you need at the next level. including the pure shot and the ability to get off his shot. I agree now is the time to go, because he will get drafted, and there's almost no room for his improvement at UH, so strike while the iron is somewhat hot. But it's likely going to be filled with disappointment. Dotson was probably the best bet out of all our guys, he had the potential to play at the next level but even he's never really improved.

So what do you think happened here. Just not enough playing time?

Next year's rotation seems to include Mark, Sasser, & Shead in the back court and all ahead of Tyson.
White, Chaney are front court carryovers. Two of the three freshmen (Francis, Walker & Armbrester) and the guy form Uconn should fill the remaining positions.

Hard to imagine ... but if Grimes returns, Coogs are loaded.

Yes. Tyson is a just a 3pt specialist. He only got a few spot minutes in blowouts and got to play when Sampson rested guys. He doesn’t really have anything else besides that. Good guy in the locker room. Always supportive and never made a fuss. He’s just going to find another spot that has room to get him in the game in meaningful time. It probably won’t be a big school where he gets it.

UH will probably go after at least one wing transfer who’s ready to step in the rotation every night.

Said this before, he really has come a long way since leaving Kansas in these last 2 years. He developed into a great path into the league led by Sampson and co.

They are trying to get two wings to go with the big from Connecticut.

Miller Kopp is very likely. He is a former top 100 prospect that is from Houston, has a relative joining the football team and would like to go to a bigger program.

They also are also going hard after Jacob Young and a 5th year transfer from a small school.

Yeah I mentioned previously Jacob young coming back home to Houston just seems to make a lot of sense at this time

Every year someone integral (Gray, Hinton, Brooks, Robinson, Davis, etc.) leaves and it seems like the program will step back and “rebuild,” but they always come back stronger: Round of 32, Sweet 16, and Final Four in the last four years. I had no idea Jarreau would end up the leader he became. I wonder who will step up and take the reins on the court next. Sampson always finds someone.

Needs to start finding more net and less iron on his shot. Other than that I like everything about him. Maybe also improve his dribbling ability just a little.

Certainly has room to grow. But he produced in some big situations. And importantly, Sampson had the freshman in the lineup in those game on the line situations.

Saw footage of this guy, very athletic, a lefty and supposedly plays good defense. Hit 51% from 3 - 19-37 FG/FGA in 20-21 year. In 19-20 year, 36% from 3, 27-75 FG/FGA.

He looks like a solid addition for a team that needs some scoring. We'll know pretty early if he has turned the corner. Tyson came off as the weak kid in the neighborhood who just stood around the 3 point line, almost timid, but this guy looks a lot more aggressive, but at his age, he should be.

Loved Sniper Brooks being aggressive in his opportunity last night when he got in the game. He's trying to make it count and that's what you're supposed to do when he gets this chance.

Good to see. I'm happy for 'em. Brooks is a pure shooter. Always has been. Don't remember a step back 3 tho'. He just has to work on being aggressive and finishing a drive, and making those FT. Basically the same thing Dotson needed. Both were always blacking out in the lane like Ariza, and yet both have the length to finish. Armnoi has the right body type for the nba. He just wasn't ready. He needs a little more result consistency on that shot too, but really, it looks smooth, so not sure why he isn't getting the results.

Sampson usually gets guys under the radar as transfers. Four of the five starters this year were transfers. Sampson is excellent at talent evaluation for players that fit his system and style of play. He will go after a 5 star transfer like Grimes but he is not some one that is loyal to general opinions on quality of players/rankings.

Taze Moore is a 5th year senior and will be a rotation player at the minimum, and has the style and characteristics of a player that will fit it very well.

Josh Carlton is a player that won't be on anyone's radar as an All American, but he is again a good rotational player that fits what Sampson wants to do. He blocks shots, rebounds, has size at 6'11" and can score when needed to. He also is a good defender.

They are likely going to add another player as well..... they have interest in Miller Kopp from Northwestern who is a former top 100 prospect. They also are looking at Jacob Young from Rutgers, Kyler Edwards is someone they have at least some interest in and they have a few others as well.
