Mike Bibby Jr. getting nerf herded by the Cougars today. Headed to 11-3. If we we can poke our way to 13-3 we'll be in position to make a run at the NCAA once again.
This is a big week we have Tulsa on Wednesday and Cincinnati on Saturday. If you aren't doing anything you should come watch you can get in for $10 and see some good college ball. Tulsa isn't a good team so I expect a win there, but the Bearcats are playing well so if we are able to knock them off again at home it will be a good win to give us a chance to a NCAA birth come March.
Houston pulls it out 64-61 drawing several free throws down the stretch to comeback. A win without two starters is solid. On to Cincinnati who will be athletic, but we can out shoot them. Would have like to see Dotson have a better game, but at least he got up 17 shots. Van Beck earned his walk-on scholarship tonight with 16 points.
Scrapped and clawed. Showed heart. Nkali looked like a permanent fixture tonight, but we could not overcome the poor shooting in combination with Cincinnati's awkward;y good shooting night. Turn down the sheets. 3-19 from deep for Cougars. 10 3's for Cinicinnati. Learning curve game, but sights set now on trying to finish at least 2nd in conference to force the NCAA to make a decision on us.
We have been able to get by without Davis but we really could use used him inside last night. We just don't have any bigs with skill other than Davis and it really shows against teams like UCinn.
OMG!! Houston Cougars making it rain from 3 point land tonight against ECU with 11, count that 11 3 pointers at the half, lol. Smoking hot!! To put that in perspective, Loyola Maramount who ran a crazy offense has the tournament record with 21 in a game.
Kelvin Sampson a little sarcastic and snippy with the sideline reporters tonight. Cougars laid an egg in the first five minutes again to go down 9-1 and gave me a small headache, but appear to be the better team on the floor now that they are once again in full gear. Cannot keep tigers off the boards. That said, Memphis looks to be in troubled waters.
Cougars chow down on Tako Tuesday. Complete team win for the first time in a long time with contributions across the board. Offensively the night belonged to Dotson exploding for career high31 points. Davis back in the rotation. And we are back in the conversation.
We could be but we need a win against one of the big dogs in conference. I could see us beating SMU at home but @UCinn is going to be hard based on our past against them.
Houston steamrolls Dunleavy lead Tulane by 29, and Dotson once again unfolds a career high with 32. Think if we go undefeated from here we are in the NCAA. If we go 5-1 will have a chance with a decent American tournament. Anything less and we'll need to take the tournament. We can do this, but need Dotson to remain committed and selfish. The team isn't really NCAA good, but they do have moments, and that gives them a chance. Someone must have given Dunnigan the green light in the last 5 minutes cause he was throwing up everything, lol.
Cougars keep piling on the wins, torching the golden hurricane and getting to 18-7. Dotson and Gray, then Gray and Dotson. Dynamic duo with 24 and 28. Same old story, carbon copy, but it's working nicely against the lower tier. Gray with a bloody nose. And nice to see the backups holding court while he sat. Low turnovers. Keepin it rollin. We got one hour to celebrate before the Rockets take the court tonight.
So, what are the likelihood of the SMU/UH game being sold out on Saturday? Do I need to buy in advance or just get them at the door?
I just bought a couple of tickets. A lot of the good seats seem to already be sold. UH Twitter saying 1950 tickets left, so I think odds are that it won't sell out. But all the good seats will probably be filled.
It won't sellout just get there early enough to buy tickets and expect the line to be slow it always is no matter how many show up to the game.
Attendance is up 41% since the Sampson takeover, ranking us in the top 3 by % increase in the country.
We bumped back up to a 57 rpi which by comparison to last years 89 rpi, is somewhat significant. But 4 big games to go if you include the conference semi. ( SMU, Memphis, Cinn, and probably SMU again if we beat them this weekend.) All that said, SMU owned us last go. It was ugly. Cincinnati was uncharacteristically hot from 3 against us so think we can beat them next go. Likely to get a bye in the first round of the conference tourney and easy matchup in the quarter round. Then a big boy.
Just wondering, if I go to the SMU game as a student. Can I bring a friend or she have to buy a ticket? Didn't know if seating is the same way as the football games.
We just aren't good enough to beat these teams with quality bigs. It looks like another year without a tournament bid.
Galen Robinson is so frustrating to watch. He can get to the basket at will, draw fouls, but can't hit free throws. The refereeing down the stretch was questionable, which was disappointing.
