We just needed to come out of that game healthy and couldn't do it.
If Jarreau is out past the next round, we're in serious trouble.
I will say this...Mark has already shown big time talent as a freshman, but has been hidden a bit...no more. His emergence will be well chronicled now. He'll be a lottery pick one day.

He bumped his hip. When i saw it it didn't look all that serious but he sat out with it iced the whole game. I was at BWW and couldn't hear a thing.

looks like a hip pointer. Id say its doubtful he plays against Rutgers, which will hurt us badly. We might not beat Rutgers without him.

Dejon is the difference between going deep in this and going home earlier than anticipated. Please me available for next week DJ. We should be able to be Rutgers sunday without him but beyond that the coogs are going to need him

Judging from what I saw yesterday our best strategy is to run Sasser at point in absence of Jarreau. He can at least handle the ball and appears to have no trouble dealing with the press that teams will surely continue to throw at us. Mark has tremendous potential but seems to get trapped easily while trying to bring the ball up the court and tends to turn the ball over. Mark seems better suited as a shooting guard.

I agree. Mark scares me when he is handling the rock. Hes a slasher and a scorer.

Pass the ball up the court. Grimes can do that without getting tired. Our handles are shaky across the board, but Jarreau was also a tall dribbler and shaky too. Give Memphis credit, they actually got us ready for the press. We owe them.

As far as Rutgers, they have plenty of flaws. We don't need Jarreau to beat them. They are way overrated.

Yeah, Marks can handle the ball, but works best off the wing. I was kinda surprised when Kelvin skipped over Sasser.

Also noticed that Syracuse's fabled 2-3 zone is a very high zone. They leave the baseline almost entirely unguarded. That's how to attack it. Forget about the High Post entry and threes. Pass it straight to the baseline and attack. Also it leaves them susceptible to offensive rebounding. They are a favorable match up as long as we commit to that strategy.

“DeJon has been our MVP this season,” head coach Kelvin Sampson said following Friday’s game. “Quentin (Grimes) has been our best player but DeJon has been our most important player.”
    ...
DeJon’s not a real meaty guy anyway,” Sampson said. “He’s kind of boney. Hip pointer for him is gonna be a little bit more severe say than me or you.”

reading some of the comments in rutgers board and they all seem to be of the idea that we'll be overmatched by their physicality lol

they really make it seem like we play in a church league
nevermind that we beat ohio state in tourney when we played them and only lost to to national runner up michigan that one year by a miracle shot

Ye, different teams/years but this team isnt going to be manhandled by rutgers lmao

with jarreau in the line up we win comfortably
much closer without him but we should still win

Get chills knowing that I called Tramon Mark a star when he was in high school. He always played sg because it was an automatic double team 91 feet.

It bodes well for Jarreau being close to full strength next round if Sampson's playing him against Rutgers.
As to this game, 20+ point win.

Don't pay attention to anything the Big10 says outside of Illinois and Michigan. But especially Illinois.

Also, Rutgers is the afterthought of the initial American college program: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_Rutgers_University

As soon as T-Mark starts hitting more net and less iron he is going to be unbelievable. I like everything about him but he needs to work on his shooting just a little. And does not need to be our primary ball handler. Selfishly, I hope he stays all the way through his senior year. Don't blame him though once he puts everything together if he takes his talents to the next level. Kid has the potential to be very, very good.

Tbh i was really underwhelmed with him subbing for dejon last night. Shot selection was bad, ball handling even worse, and then he picked up two quick dumb fouls and got benched. Hope what I saw was an abberation.
