So you clear capspace so you can take on more cap? Clearing capspace means you pay a price or give assets to do so, they do that and then immediately fill their cap again with bad contracts for assets? So they lose assets to clear cap and then take on more bad contracts to get assets, that puts them in the same situation they were before and that makes no sense. They drafted their big men because its BPA, if they wanted to develop their big men straight up why get so many at the same position? You can only develop 1-2 guys at each spot, there isn't enough pt to play them all. They just wanted to get 1-2 of the best and then trade the other guys because when these guys outgrow there rookie contracts they wont be able to pay them all.
You must be mistaken... I'm sure lars had plenty of statistical information and maybe even some advanced analytics that proved his opinion was obviously correct... lol
Pay a price or give assets...what price exactly they had to pay to clear cap? 2/3 of their roster is on rookie contracts. Letting Afflalo go was price? They didn't have to eat any salary AFAIK? So they didn't lose any assets to have clear cap so they can take back assets to eat bad salaries. That's ofc if they aren't completelly r****ded. Nope, they drafted all those guys because more young players means more shots at getting a star. That's what rebuilding teams do. If they trade them later that's a different story. But without giving minutes and developing, these young players won't have any trade value anyway to bring anything good back.
We're agreeing on these points so not sure why you are arguing with me. Sac are rebuilding but if they're gonna take salary why not get a semiuseful player like Anderson instead of total trash who won't help the team win? They have gotten lots of prospect big men but those guys they got don't complement each other, these are all projected to be centers so a guy like Anderson who is a vet and a shooter can be of use to that team. He can even help the team into the playoffs esp. if Hield or their picks this year blow up they got a ton of good players in the draft. Of course Sacramento won't take Anderson for nothing, Houston has to pay the price which is why I said Morey has his work cut out for him. But they are still a logical dumping target nonetheless.
oh lol ok. I thought you meant they will trade for him for free. If the price is right imo they could take him. Morey doesn't have that many options anyway. Minny is also a good one.
This thread is hilarious. Pay Ryan Anderson his market value, then he actually stays healthy the entire season, yet his value is lower than before? Then you have other morons who actually think the wolves could attract a free agent with cap space, even though they never have, and never will. If you think the wolves wouldn't take Ryan Anderson for free, then nothing else you think is going to make sense either.
so you think we can find a taker for anderson without giving up an asset or taking on a bad contract in return? I hope you are right. I'd be shocked. i think we are going to find out this off-season
If nobody takes Ryno, we could stretch his contract to 7 years and that should open up 11M extra cap space.
Morey already has something lined up. Yes, Andersons contract isn't great, but a true stretch 4 is hard to come by. There aren't many true stretch 4s out there, so you have to overpay for the ones that you can get. He still shot 40% from 3 in the regular season.
Knew this scrubs contract was going to be toxic at the beginnning of last year... hardly anyone ever listened. Now it is going to cost us some significant assets to dump this sorry fool. Unless morey has something up his sleeves, or a FA team wants to do a sign and trade, we are going to have to part with something of high value to get this crap off of our books. UGH
Zach Lowe: Unloading Ryan Anderson to sign Paul outright would have helped Houston keep one of their outgoing guards, but the market for the three years and $60 million left on Anderson's deal was frigid. Not even the Kings wanted him for free. At least two teams would have demanded two Houston first-round picks in exchange for absorbing Anderson, according to several league sources.
LOL at those saying "oh teams will take Anderson without even a sweetener" We got our answer tonight. 2 first rounders!!! And to think that some ppl don't want to trade him for Melo..
So... if we assume we would have given Lou Williams for free (maybe gotten a 2nd round pick) to make cap space, and the 2018 first is gone either way... Ryan Anderson MLE for use BAE 2020 first round pick vs. Beverley Sam Decker Maybe Trezl / Wiltjer Puts the decision to make the trade in context...
