char·la·tan ˈSHärlədən,ˈSHärlətn/ noun a person falsely claiming to have a special knowledge or skill; a fraud. Example contemporary usage: "The charlatan said he knows more about ISIS than the generals."
I sympathize, but WTF does "qualified" have to do with American politics? Have you learned nothing in the past week?
In the new normal for politics that Trump has brought upon us all, Booker would never beat out Kanye or one of them Kardashian chicks in the 2020 primaries.
The reality of charisma is not really disputable in modern Presidential politics.... when is the last time that the more charismatic nominee lost? Several generations ago if not further. We also know that America is open to non qualified candidates for President, as evident with the election of Trump. Hell, GW Bush and Obama both had limited experience when they were elected. So.... why not run a Tom Hanks or George Clooney?
He is certainly the establishment candidate for 2020. He is a Clintonian Wall Street Dem and the big donors will get behind him heavily to try to stop Warren or Bernie as they will give Wall Street more trouble.
And yet the great blue wall went up in a puff of smoke and was replaced by a sea of red. The Charlatan-in-chief resides in your head rent free. Life is good!
You do not get to dictate the discussion here, your side lost and my people won so I will take the lead. You are only allowed to follow the leader and acknowledge how awesome my posts are. Cheer up ,with your great attitude, it will get easier. Ah ...the spoils of war.
We'll see. I certainly agree that, among the many signposts the Democrats missed these past 8 years was Occupy Wall Street. And it's tangentially related to the unrest in the Rust Belt. I heard someone on NPR juxtapose Obama's and Clinton's campaigns as bottom-top v. top-down (as Obama seemingly did to day, as well), and I think that's true. The Democrats drew a conclusion (Hillary) and worked backwards; they need to be more in touch with their base. It's like they forgot 2008 ever happened. Having said that, Booker has shown a capacity to literally walk in the shoes of his poor constituents; it'll be interesting to see his possible emergence. As I said: I was shocked it didn't happen this year. He didn't even get a prominent DNC spot, did he, ala Obama in '04?
You haven't looked very hard then. The guy is another corrupt DNC crony. NJ Watershed anyone? Where there is smoke, there is fire - and there is absolutely no way he could/would run. He hasn't had 30 years of backroom deals to help bury the skeletons in his closet like Clinton did. http://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2013/08/why-do-liberals-hate-cory-booker/278992/ https://newrepublic.com/article/114300/cory-booker-wins-primary-hes-even-worse-critics-say http://www.dailykos.com/story/2012/05/21/1093259/-Why-Booker-Attacked-Obama-The-REAL-Cory http://www.esquire.com/news-politics/politics/a24279/cory-booker-has-a-problem/ http://www.nytimes.com/2013/08/07/nyregion/tech-magnates-bet-on-booker-in-web-venture.html http://www.theatlantic.com/politics...terrible-no-good-startup-relationship/312300/
Four years from now, every rational person is going to be crying for a "Clintonian" establishment, insider candidate that USED to be part of the status quo. Choosing a candidate with actual political experience will matter again, and yes Cory Booker will be one of hopefully MANY good candidates for Democrats to choose from in the 2020 primary.
Wall street, Stanford, Oxford, Yale Law, Rhodes Scholar. Sounds like my sort of elitist. The Year of the Trump has taught me I'm a member of the elite, so I'm going to have to double-down on all my elitist candidates. Besides which, I think people are taking too many lessons from this last election. Just because a demagogue won this time doesn't mean that's what we'll want 4 years from now. When we were electing Obama, we thought we were in a post-racial society in which you had to embrace minorities to win national elections. Obviously, that was wrong. Booker should keep putting in the work, maybe diversify his resume if he can, and watch for opportunity. There may or may not be one.

LOL, it is much better to have even more corrupt non established politicians than established corrupt politicians.
This is Corrie to a T in the grandstanding. He also came out against the Dakota Access Pipeline. He is not willing to part with his role as probably the most imbedded Wall Street toadie in the Dem Party. He can see which direction the wind is blowing so he has to try to get on board a little bit and give a nod to the Bernie folks who are the future of the party.. Big media, Wall Street and the corporate elite will not give up control of the Dem Party easily and Corrie is their stalking horse.
Cory is showing the oligarchs he's ready for 2020. 13 Democrats in the Senate voted against importing prescription drugs from Canada, but instead, we have multiple threads about unsubstantiated rumors about Donald Trump, Russia, and piss videos. Donald Trump is the president we deserve.
