Just looked at CC's full season average on BR:

    44 2B, 44 HR, 114 RBI, 25/6 SB

He is at ludicrous speed for a 20y/o

Starting to think if CC isn't already on Mike Trout's level.

He is. Trout, Correa, Stanton?, ...? ...?

Who are the 5 best position players in MLB?

I'd go with Goldschmidt, Harper, and Posey over Stanton.

I'd definitely put Goldschmidt in there over Stanton, probably ahead of Posey too

Is Miggy Cabrera too old to be considered?

I did totally blank on Harper, he's also a prodigy.

    Stanton, sure, but not Posey.

Baseball is in a great time right now though with all the young talent.

I'm assuming defense is why Miggy & Goldschmidt might not be top 5.

Goldschmidt has won a Gold Glove. He does everything, including steal bases. He's also from Houston. I played with him a bit as a teenager so I may be biased (but I doubt it).

I'd consider Machado over Stanton as well in terms of future production.

He's still a 1B, which has less overall defensive value.

Goldschmidt would be in my top 5, but I understand 1B does have decreased defensive value.

I saw him play a bit when he was in San Marcos. I still do not understand how he lasted until the 8th? round in the draft. Lots of GMs are kicking themselves about that one.

I'm not sure why he was drafted so late. I don't know enough about his college performance or the drafting process, but you're right about GMs kicking themselves. He's also signed to the most friendly contract in baseball. He signed something like a 5 year, 30-35 million extension before he really broke out and finished second in MVP voting. He'll probably finish second again this year.

I realized later that I may have come off as bragging about playing with him, but just think it's cool how far he's made it. I really respect how humble he is for being so talented. The only other player I played with that has reached the majors is Grossman. There are a few other floating around the minors.

That makes sense. Trout has not made the same spectacular plays this year we've been accustomed to but his defense is more valuable. It's crazy how many 5-tool players exist in the game today.

Is SS the most valuable defensive position? I guess I'd rank it SS>C>CF.

Haha can't remember who you were talking about but you said something about losing faith in someone bc they had a bad inning or something.

Haha, it was McCullers after his last start. I said "I lost some confidence…" because that's probably the worst Ive seen a pitcher pitch for the Astros in a long time. I am nervous about his next start because I really don't know what to expect. Previous to that start, I had no concerns about him at all…but now I have fears of over pitching him, fatigue, etc…

    I love Correa though.
