Corey will seek for long term contract. I would like to have him in our team but i don't think we can afford him. That's too bad! :(

I don't know if the Clippers would want another PF especially since Wilcox couldn't fit in with Brand. Stro might end up with an even smaller role than he has with us. I feel that a lot will depend on Radmanovich's future role with the Clippers and if he wants to stay with them.
If Maggette is fit I would be happy to see him on the team. I like the fact that he is young, strong, likes to attack the basket and finishes well and doesn't have a big contract. His shooting and defensive ability is average but I think he is worth the risk because he plays with energy.
The one question that I have is will T-Mac move back to the 2 spot with Maggette on the team?

I'm still wondering if there is a deal brewing between the Clips and Warriors for this offsesaon. Rumors are circulating that Warriors are looking to dump Dunleavy. Obviously it would make sense for Dunleavy to go to the Clips. We could send GS our lotto pick plus Howard. That way they could move Murphy for an expiring or two and drop their payroll, pick up another young lottery pick.

I think there are going to be deals to be made for swingmen this offseason. It's a matter of which deal best suits us.

This offseason is critical. We have to get that 3rd primary scorer and we have to get improvement at the 4 spot.

It would be a major coup if we could get our hands on a player like Maggett. He's signed for 3 more years at less than $8MM per year!

His offensive skills would fit in great but I don't know if he could accept being the #3 option. That is my main concern.

And I don't see how we could offer the Clips enough to get him since many other teams will be at their doorstep. But adding him over the summer would put some major excitement back into the Rockets. He isn't a deadeye 3 point shooter but his slashing and attacking would add some spice to our 1/2 court game big time. It's nice to dream.

A healthy Maggette would be great for his team, but since he is always injured and made of glass I'd say pass

Getting better at the 2,4,and getting a backup PG who can shoot the 3 are all major needs but I don't want a 4 like Troy Murphy. He plays hard but isn't quick enough. Radmanovich would be fine with me on the Rockets.

Van Gundy would NEVER bring in Radmonovic. He refuses to play defense.

GATER, I dont remember you chiming in on the Childress trade idea. Where do you stand with it?

The Knicks DO have 1st rounders this year. In fact they have 2.
1 from the Nzar Mohammed trade and the other from the Jalen Rose trade.
But, I do agree that teams like the Knicks and Blazers are teams to watch because they have so many parts that probably will be moved.
I dont think the Hawks will take Francis. I think they would be more interested in Marbury. Dont forget Marbury went to Georgia Tech. I could see Marbury for a S&T Al Harrington in some sort of trade with the Knicks and Hawks.

As for Maggette and the Rockets. I think his defense is decent. He is not quite a lock down defender, but he is solid. And he is physical. I think he would be willing to take the tougher defensive swingman assignment each night.

I think those of you (like me) that liked Bobby Simmons last offseason as a FA target, will probably like the idea of adding Maggette. Except I think Maggette is a better player all around.

I highly doubt we're going to get 40 ft's per game. We're the Houston Rockets not Allen Iverson.

Maggette would be so nice. A physical guard that can actually  score

    Young(27),experienced(7 seasons),tall(legit 6'6),strong(225 Lbs)

can give you 17points if play for 30 minutes, 20 points if play for 35 minutes

goes to the free throw line 10 times every game

comparatively cheap: making 7.3m, 7.8m, 8.4m for the next three years

what can you ask for more?

I agree. The players we have do not have the capability of driving to the basket when Yao gets doubled. Look at the Spurs as an example. Every guard on that team can pumpfake the 3, then take it to the hole, even Bowen. Maggette would be great at receiving the swing pass and then taking advantage of the scrambling defense.

let's keep the pick, get a good PF.. send a combination of any of these scrubs: Swift, JHo, Rybo, Brunson, Head, Alston, Bogans.. get Maggette and Livingston ..use left overs (money)for descent shooters... how about that ???

Combined with our pick in the 8 to 11 range, I would guess that all we would have to throw the Clips is "cap fodder" for them to bite on the deal. Why? The Clips love draft picks - they translate into cheap players. I'm guessing they would rather have trade exceptions and/or expiring contracts in return (plus cash), as opposed to even a reasonable contract such as Stro's.

Don't we have about a $3 million trade exception? Can it be combined with Sura (cap fodder), to get close enough to Maggette's $7 million salary? Also, under the new CBA, I think we only need to send 75% of the salary we are taking back, which would be a little over $5 million. I've seen elsewhere that Sura has two years remaining on his deal, which if true, could stymie the chance of the Clips taking him. But I thought that it was widely reported when he signed with Houston two years ago, that it was a three year deal. We can send up to $3 million to the Clips to make it even more paletable to take Sura's salary.

Finally, Chicago is currently over the cap, so they could not absorb Maggette's salary prior to the draft without sending out salary in return. Maybe they could make the pick for the Clips and consumate the deal after July 1st, but this might be less appealing to the Clips. Nonetheless, our pick is going to be higher than Chicago's. Chicago also has Gordon and Deng to man the 2/3 spots.

Yeah we do. In all likelihood, it's actually probably for Moochie Norris' entire 4.2 mill salary. No we can't combine it.
