Where does all of this Noah blasting come from? Sure, he doesn't have a real offensive game. But he is suffocating defensively, he handles the ball really well for his size, he's extremely athletic, and he works harder than anyone else on the floor. He's going to get the hustle points, and he's a very, very polished defensive player. He's the power forward version of Shane Battier.

Brewer isn't as comfortable inside as Howard was/is. Brewer is closer to Stacey Augmon than he is Howard.

solid comparison. But I agree Brewer is currently closer to Augmon, as yaopao said.

Also, I think most of you are underrating Howard's final season at Wake. He was really good there, and I couldn't believe he was drafted as low as he was. Smart player, under control for the most part even with his athleticism.

Brewer has some work to put in, but he could easily follow Howard's path in the NBA with effort.

he's still really scrawny, and that was the knock on him last year, and he hasnt bulked up any since last year. he's athletic and he can dribble. he could really do some things in a run and gun offense like phoenix. he's nothing like battier, who can actually score. he's more like boris diaw as a point forward

I've defended Noah but I've given up on it. Whenever some player or team reaches the top, everyone will come out of the closet to make a knock on them. Some valid, many invalid. I know how it is, this is the first time in my life a team I root for has reached the pinnacle. (No thanks, Cleveland Cavs/Browns) Especially for Noah, who I think many people love to hate. The Boris Diaw point-forward isn't a bad comparison though.

I'd like to also point out that Taureen Green is a solid pg (handles, passing, shooting) who has the potential to be a starter in the NBA. He drives this team, and of all players I would be the most nervous if he is injured for a game. He drives the Gator bus loaded with 3 bonafide NBA draft picks. And Richard, yes the 6th man, has been on a tear and could easily start for a few other top 25 college teams. He's actually the most physically strong guy and I hope a few NBA teams will give him a chance to workout for them. I'm sure this guy could at the least be a decent backup center for an NBA squad. Humphries is the most one-dimensional, but he plays good D and he's demonstrated many times he can knock it down from the NBA 3 range. He might be worth a shot for teams who desperately need a sharp shooter. Frankly, that's the only thing Novak has going for him anyways.

I want the Rockets to pick Taurean Green. He is a limited PG, but the Rockets don't need a great one. He's probably won't be the BPA when the Rockets pick, but he's a solid fit.

Not really. Shane was a skilled player on offense in college. Noah has ZERO skills on offense besides trying to post up players who are a lot shorter than him. I've said since last year he was very overrated. His lack of improvement this year proves the point. Until he develops some sort of "go to" move that will work in the NBA, his ceiling will be very limited. He also needs to gain strength because he is easy to push around. The form on his jumpshot and FTs is incredibly bad.

I don't know if polished would describe him on defense. He tries hard and takes defense very seriously. My guess is in the NBA, defensive effort will continue to be his best attribute. But unless he gains strength, learns to shoot and at least develops some polish on offense, he won't do much in the NBA. He's worth a mid-late 1st round draft pick but not the top 10.

Florida is leading, but Oden is OWNING the Gators. He is abusing Horford and Noah and whoever else they throw at him . If he doesn't get fouls he is absolute TERROR on both ends at this level.

Agreed. Any questions as to whether Oden is still the number one pick were answered tonight.

On the other hand, I think comparisons of Noah to Battier are a reach since Shane was a Naismith award winner who scored almost 20 points a game in college.

If a guy can't score at the college level, he really isn't likely to become a scorer at the NBA level. I see Noah as hustle PF/C, who might average 12 and 10 in his prime. He'll be a great role player, but anyone expecting greatness is asking too much. He's playing on one of the two most loaded teams of the past 5 years, the other being 2004 UConn w/ 7 NBA players.

Oden is a man among boys. He's a defensive monster, quickness, power, showed some finesse too. damn fine player, durant is great, but there haven't been any centers in the NCAA i've seen in two decades that plays like oden

Gotta love how Joakim was out of breath 2 minutes into the 2nd half because he was too busy gesticulating his emotions...

Corey Brewer reminds me of a James Posey type. I personally don't think he's quick enough to be compared to Tayshaun Prince or Josh Howard. James Posey may not get the stats, but I'm sure we as Rockets fans remember him (before he turned into a camp the 3 point line player in Miami) with his athleticism and good D.

Am I the only one who is reminded of a slightly less athletic Shawn Marrion when I see Brewer? Great perimiter defender, can grab rebounds, shoot. Maybe?

This kid will be the best pro out of this much heralded bunch. I like the Josh Howard comparison for the most part although Howard played much closer to the basket than Brewer does in college.

Worst case scenario for Brewer is becomming a James Posey like player.
