You guys are jumping to conclusions and should understand some things before bashing the police (....again) The CFA lot is private property. A cop CANNOT write you a ticket for having an expired sticker on a vehicle that is on private property. Now, the moment you drive that car onto the street, he can absolutely write you up. On a similar note...Many years ago my dad was in a wreck when someone ran one of those parking lot stop signs. Guess what? Cops couldn't do anything about it because the stop sign wasn't a state-issued sign on public property. Bottom line: those stop signs in strip center parking lots aren't real gov't stop signs.
Even without the stop sign, couldn't the cop have decided who was at fault? I mean, it was either your dad or the other person. No witnesses?
Well, back then they didn't have security cameras watching parking lots, so it was my dad's word against the other person's. I don't remember there being any witnesses. With cameras everrywhere now, it may be different today, but I wouldn't rely on it.
That is not sufficient to explain the incredible magnetism that Chic-Fil-A seems to hold for uniformed police. There is something else going on there. Honestly, in some of the smaller, out of the way towns/villages, I think if you did a running survey during the course of the day, you'd find a greater police presence at Chic-Fil-A than at the police station. I appreciate that that sounds like hyperbole, but it isn't.
yeah clearly the department in his jurisdiction was lacking funding etc and had to resort to this crap. I still haven't updated my inspection. I drive a '08 Accord, do I really need a inspection? flawed ass laws.
yes.... because burnt out head lights don't happen to reliable cars. No matter how new or reliable a vehicle is it still has to go through regular maintenance in order for it to be safely on the road. And inspections enforce that safety not just for you but other people driving around you.
I saw something similar today at Bunker Hill and I-10. A douche cop was parked underneath the overpass at Bunker Hill and was ticketing cars that were making a u-turn. I assumed this was for expired tags or maybe not having a front license plate. The cop was just standing on the road while his car was parked off to the side. I saw him ticket two cars while I was waiting at the light. He was still standing there on my way back from Costco an hour later...
