Why is it crap? I am not saying the women were right with their actions, they were totally wrong but can you not see how the cop would be too?
Actually the charge against the women was obstruction of justice. They stuck their noses where it didn't belong and paid the legal price. It's a crappy situation for everyone involved, but the women got themselves into this one..
Guys, we should like overthrow this police state conspiracy oppression oppression. It's in the constitution of rights. Is monarchy? Pffffffft. Lumpy tried to E Honda hundred hand slap him so he gave her some Balrog. It's not like he punched her for no reason. Is it ok now to sumo fight the law? Cops can cross the line sometimes, but she so got what she deserved.
Its crap because RR is predictable in his responses anytime there is a situation involving cops. Never does he analyzes the situation on its own. If it involves a cop then its automatically their fault. Of course I agree cops can be wrong...lol. I don't think he is wrong at all in this situation though. I would have done the same thing. I'm sure the cop was a little intimidated by the mob mentality that was forming around him. The stupid b**** should have taken her ticket and then went to contest like a normal freakin person.
In his post he didn't say the women were right though, I believe he was just stating that everybody taking the police officer's side might want to, do as you're suggesting and examine the situation. Of course I am just guessing and could be totally wrong. The officer could have backed off and called for backup, used secondary weaponry (if available), pulled his primary weapon, etc. I think people forget that police officers are put in position of high authority and when in situations like that they are trained, or supposed to be, professionals that have a number of tactics and procedures to follow. They're not bouncers at a club that just go swinging wildly when somebody pushes them. As for mob mentality, I didn't see any of that around him. I saw two women acting foolishly while others were either watching, recording, or simply trying to pull the women away and stay out of it.
Yikes. Both sides were wrong...if the woman didn't intervene, this wouldn't have happened but who knows if he would have punched the woman who was resisting the arrest...
I think both are wrong. First of all, why is the cop making a jaywalking stop? Is allowing a jaywalking stop escalate to the point where a woman is punched in the face a good and efficient use of our law enforcement resources? Once it got to that point, it's possible the woman did enough to provoke that reaction. But the question remains. Why did a jaywalking infraction ever get to that point? To me that's not good law enforcement, or efficient use of law enforcement resources. Now look what happened, look at all the paperwork, internal investigation and everything else that will be wasted on this, because he wanted to stop someone from jaywalking. Not smart.
it's mind numbing how much people will use ever opportuntity to ridicule cops. Franchise..you're going to use the "cops have better things to do" excuse. really? It stopped being a jaywalking case and started being an assault/resisting arrest. great..he could have tazered her at which point the critics when then comment how big of a puss he was because he couldnt handle a 19 year old girl. there are a ton of maybe that can be thrown around about what he could have done, but i find it interesting that all those maybe are directed toward the cop and not those gals. Interesting.
The girls are not the trained professionals here. I already said they acted foolishly and were wrong too.
For starters, the law? Maybe they had recent problems at that intersection in regards to jaywalking and were trying to crack down. Maybe they literally walked out in front of cars almost causing an accident. Who knows? There are plenty of other minor infractions that could lead to extra paperwork. Should we just ignore those since there's a chance the person may be uncooperative?
the point was, when you have a bias to a group of people (in this case cops), then no matter what the cop does the bias person will always say he should have done this or he should have done that. He is in a lose-lose situation
of course. but in this case, ridiculing the cop for basically being assaulted does seem like that person has a particular agenda and person issue...perhaps due to a bad experience.
You should be smart about dealing with it. You could prevent it before it happened if it had caused accidents at the intersection before. You could have a traffic cop there to signal people etc.
