Doctors diagnose diseases, dentists treat our dental problems BUT we still need to go and make an appt to see them and get our diseases diagnosed and dental problems treated. The Lord Jesus wants us to come to Him. He wants us to come to Him in our free will. It is our choice to have our sins paid or not. How's HE going to come into your life if you don't invite Him first. The Lord Jesus doesn't come in without invitation - He's a gentleman like that. Sins are only paid IF we come to Him, confess our sins, turn from our wickedness and run to Him. If we don't repent and follow Him, we will die in our sins - not paid for. And that will be our choice. It's foolish for us to know that a loving Savior is just right there always, awaits us, ready to forgive our sins but we never go to Him to ask for forgiveness!! And if we wait longer, we could die and never get around to it
Fun... let's go back to old selves and not talk about the topic at hand. Are you the same person you were yesterday? Thank you Jesus for redeeming me from my dark past. It's all because of Him that I am saved.
I get all of that its the other side of that argument I don't understand. This is where I honestly don't understand Christianity... I was BORN IN SIN then live my life and sin all the time and then if I don't repent ... God sends me to hell to be TORTURED FOR ETERNITY? We are supposed to believe in an omnipotent yet forgiving and loving deity without ANY evidence OR ELSE ... yet this omnipotent deity designed us to be skeptical beings? I would be much more understanding, assuming God exists, if he had an annual conference where he just popped up in the sky and talked to everyone. If God is so omnipotent why doesn't he ever show his face? I am not talking about some ... flower growing through the sidewalk is proof of God kind of stuff. This is more like a dentist designing your teeth to get cavities and then forcing you to go see him or suffer the consequences.
My friend, He didn't design you to become skeptical... that's from your experiences, from how you have lived in this world so far... He designed you to have free will. Otherwise, what kind of loving God would force you to love Him from the very beginning?
First off, most of the earlier translations were not "men having sex with men" and that is included in Arabic and Aramaic. However, for the sake of argument... take the following: "Women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the law says. If they want to inquire about something, they should ask their own husbands at home; for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in the church (1 Cor. 14:34–5)." "A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man; she must be quiet. For Adam was formed first, then Eve. And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner (1 Tim. 2:11–14)." I am sure you give these passages as much time as and attention as 1 Cor 6:9 and 1 Tim 1:9-10. Out of thousands of pages, there are two possible references to homosexuality, but there are 40-50 times as many references to women being seen but not heard. With that in mind, I am sure you spend more time working towards keeping women out of the work place and not taking an active part in society because the New Testament discusses the issue far more often than shellfish or porking men. As a firm believer of Jesus I am sure you are familiar with the Jewish tradition of ritual abomination in Leviticus, and you are aware that homosexuality is listed as a ritual abomination, such as eating lobster and shellfish. Also before you say the New Testament trumps the Old Testament, I would remind you that the vision of "marriage" is based on Genesis. You, like most "modern" interpretations of Christianity are hand picking what to follow and not follow, what to put emphasis on and not to put emphasis on and twist what Jesus said and his followers said to fit a modern (American mostly) idea of Jesus that is drastically different than what we know to be historically accurate.
Sin ... Adam and Eve deliberately chose to disobey The Lord even when The Lord said do not eat from the tree ... But they did. That's where we came from and thus, we were born in sin. God has no evidence? What about DNA? The exact measurements of the earth that allow factors and elements to support life? Look at the cosmos? Human anatomy and physiology. Look around, open your eyes. Only fools say in their hearts there is no God. Read the book of Job on this. I challenge you to seriously sit and study the Bible and disprove that God's existence. Check out the book by CS Lewis "Mere Christianity" and "The Case for Christianity". Even the well known atheist Richard Dawkins admits to Intelligent Design. Nothing comes out of nothing.. It's all GOD. See the side of GOD that stepped down from Heaven to live with man to die a shameful and excruciating death on the cross. They never see that, they always refuse to see that. People only see the Just Judge, the Righteous King. He's a dentist who designed your teeth and while you eat all the candies and chocolates in the world, HE went through some painful and ridiculously expensive surgery to get brand new sets of teeth for you. If you want those brand new teeth, simply go to that dentist office and ask for forgiveness for ruining your teeth and bc of His love for you, the dentist will remove your ugly rotten teeth and give you HIS teeth. Jesus Christ loves you much and this is why youre asking these very questions... Because youre spirit man with a soul and a body... And youre longing for something eternal that will heal your innermost being and set you free and make you whole and give you joy. This is an evidence that there is an eternal GOD!! Bc youre asking these questions and it stirs you up bc Jesus Christ is calling you and pursuing you with His Love.
What would Jesus do when a person die? I don't know the scripture, so I'm not going to question it, but that is quite a jump from "knew" to those unborn, at any stage in the womb, being the same. There are quite a bit of spontaneous abortion, something in the range of 15-20% in the 1st trimester. If you take the stand that unborn is the same, then there is a troubling question to answer - who is killing these at such a high rate and for what purpose? Consider that with external damnation for those that have no chance to follow Jesus and it's a really strange and unforgiving world - those uncountable lives lost so early are all going to hell. That's a very unforgiving and amazing interpretation.
Just something I thought I might point out.... because I REEEALLY don't want to get in between this discussion... ...is that it might be a good idea...I mean if we are all using Jesus in the New Testament gospels as a demarcation of what "God" says and does... ...it might be a good idea to distinguish between what Jesus said (or in some cases, did not say), and what prophets, apostles, teachers and such said in his "stead" ("Thus saith the Lord..." from the Old Testament...and pastoral commentary in the competitive poly-theistic social climate of the Roman empire).... ...I mean, we've got people today who blow up buildings and bomb abortion clinics saying that "God" told them to do it... To that point: Roman culture at the time had many religious observances...many of which had women as prominent and active members...even leaders in many instances... Some of the Roman temples were big on women "priestesses" trading sex for spiritual guidance, for example... ...Jesus also famously rebuked a respected member of the Jewish clergy for not following social and religious protocol in inviting him to his home, while at the same time insulting a woman (Mary Magdalene) who had made her living as a prostitute and was there at a request from him... ...if ALL scripture is inspired of "God"... ...then "God" knows better than I do that he probably needs to watch out who he lets speak for him.... ..just saying... ..you boys carry on....
No and you still didn't answer my question. I need something more concrete and you just saying DNA and the cosmos. Neither of which are even close to evidence of God. Since I answered your earlier question with a question it is only fair that I answered yours. A pretty ****ty one Also Dawkins admitted to the possibility of Intelligent Design. He has also stated before that a god COULD exist. This is another discussion though. It actually does. I challenge you to watch this whole video: <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://youtu.be/NnnSS0_-xoA" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
I will watch this later, promise. I am leaving the office. But please answer this question. It is honestly my biggest issue with Christianity besides the lack of evidence.
You're such a gigantic fool that this is exactly what you have done (and are doing) and you don't even realize it. Here's a suggestion. Go get some books. Learn about history. Maybe read up on some general philipsphy before the time period of Jesus. Then maybe actually read through scripture again, with an open mind that isn't brainwashed. You might actually get something from it. Or live your life in ignorance. Whatever you want.
Wasting a finite temporal existence seems far more tragic than a waste of long boring ass eternity. **** eternity, it is overrated from everything I've read, which includes the lyrics to the Bangles "Eternal Flame"
