Thabeet would be a very welcome addition. If Memphis is interested in moving Mayo this would be a very opportunistic time to buy low on Thabeet and Mayo.

i wouldnt want thabeet unless all we would have to give up is a future protected 2nd round pick or something along those lines. I wouldn't give up any player on our current roster to get this guy atm.

+ cash. I know Les A isn't as wealthy as the Mark Cubans in the NBA, but he should see the value fo the dollar, esp. for franchises like Memphis. CASH+C-bud+Courtney Lee+2012 NY pick for Mayo and thabeet.

In a heartbeat, for sure. Originally, the thread assumed Gay would be the one to leave. Turns out, Mayo may end up jettisoned instead. Either way, Mayo and Beet would represent significant upgrades to the roster.

    18 games,1.2 points,1.3 rebounds,0.1 assists and a EFF of 2.00. That's pitiful.
I wish him well, but he is not worth giving up a 1st round pick.

,I think you're looking at it all wrong. If i told you a guy could drop opp fg% to low 40's,pts in the paint by 10,and ppg overral by 7 or so, what would that guy be worth? I think if thabeet was getting chuck hayes minutes right now, all those things I mentioned would happen. Why? Players will go to the rim looking, pump faking, kicking out, and throwing up crazy shots. This allows perimeter players to cheat out more vs trying to dig more. He would dramatically improve the defense which is the biggest problem right now.

Precisely. An interior defender can be an absolute game changer. Just because there are so few of them and the league has become a league of floppers does not lower their value. Players blew wide open layups versus Deke, Dream, Eaton, etc just from wondering where the fly swatter was.

Yup, and that what I would do. Get thabeet and randolph and look for a suitor for scola. Brooks, martin,Randolph, hill, thabeet would be my lineup. Brooks and martin can handle most of the scoring, I think hill and randolph can be 15-17ppg scorers, and the front line of those three could terrorize offenses with their size, quickness, and length.

What's your thoughts on Gortat? Morey has previously shown interested in both him and Thabeet. To me it seems like one is the more proven(Gortat) while the other is younger and may have a higher ceiling, but also a chance to completely bust(Thabeet).

Assuming the cost being equal, I would go for Gortat, who has already shown that he is a double double with a few blocks given the minutes. In reality the cost probably isn't equal, with Thabeet's stock being much lower.

I like gortat and I think he is solid. I actually think he could be a 10-10-2blk kind of guy. I don't think they can get gortat though. Thabeet does have the bust potential, but they can get him probably cheap right now and his upside defensively would be far greater than gortat. Thabeet has dpoy written on him to me. He can be a true anchor that can allo the team to play Brooks and martin together.

Thabeet needs to be on a team where is only jobs is to get rebounds , change shots , block shots and Dunk.

If he can do those things he is worth 5 Mil a year easily. Thats all we really need right now. Have score at every other position we need a defensive presents in the paint Badly. We needed that from Yao more then we did his scoring.

Thats what I said when posters where talkimg about how good yao looked offensively. They need yao the anchor more than yao the post scorer. The description you gave of thabeet is exactly what his job would be in houston.

The NBA just lost Joachim Noah for two months and Yao Ming for the season. How shall we divide Thabeet and Gortat? Send them to opposing conferences; we get Gortat...

If we get the disabled injury exception it may just take a asset Like Budinger in a separate trade. ( you cant package a player with a exception in a trade so you have to do 2 separate deals)

I for one Hope Chase lights it up on Friday against Memphis, he maybe trying out for his new team.

Hibbert sucked balls for the pacers the last few seasons now he looks great. It just took time.

I hope we can capitalize on Memphis's inpatients and cheapness.

I'm all for Thabeet, give the kid time and lets see if he develops into anything. It would also fit Morey's MO, disappointing lottery pick looking for a chance of scenery.

I think they readily trade him for a prospect/young player. He has no future ethic that team. I'm sure they also know that a young big man like Beet, bust or not, will command a decent salary once his contract is up. Since he hasn't bested Gasol, who is an all-star level talent now, it wouldn't be prudent for them to re-sign Hasheem for mid money, long term.
